Parking sensors?
I just picked up a new GLB250 tonight with AMG night line, Premium Package, Pano roof and 3rd row seats. While parking the car, I noticed that there are no parking sensors on this car??!! I did not get the parking package since I thought it’s only the surround camera and active park assist. I did not realize that parking sensors are not standard on this car! I find this inexcusable for a modern Mercedes!

My wife's GLC300 X253 does not have parking sensors either. A great view from the backup camera with yellow and red guide lines...but...NO AUDIO! Can Park Assist or sensors be added? I agree with gaogi 100%. No excuse for this MB.
We found out when we got the GLA 250 4Matic for our son. It had most of everything EXCEPT the beeping sensors for the front and rear bumpers.
So for our GLB 250 4Matic we made sure to have the above.

Agree it is disappointing to have and back beeping sensors as standard. I searched around for solar powered plays frame sensors to avoid any drilling and hard wiring. See link below for some options.
My wife’s GLB doesn’t have parking sensors, as well. For me, (and this applies to me only) the GLB seems small enough to not have to rely on the sensors. My car is a Land Rover Discovery Sport and its parking sensors are extremely sensitive, almost to the point being annoying, especially when going through a drive through.
To the OP’s point, I agree with you. At this price point, parking sensors should be a standard feature.
They are WAAAAY too damned sensitive.....start beeping at over a foot away and continuous beeping from around 8 inches which is a major PITA as I need to park within 3" of the sides so it is a continuous noise all the time....previous GLC and GLE only beeped continuously at about 4 inches which was ideal
Does anyone know if the car will engage the brakes if you get "too close" or will just beep (or show red if you don't have the audible) until you eventually hit something? My wife's Jeep actually locked the brakes and stopped us from hitting something once.
interesting question....no, it doesnt stop you from actually hitting anything (dont ask!!! ) but it does APPEAR to make manoeuvring somewhat difficult in that it does seem to reduce movement to the absolute minimum of speed......annoying at times if, like me you have a very tight garage to move in / out of....this is irritating as, if you touch the throttle a little bit more it suddenly lurches forward
I was driving a GLB250 loaner about a month back and that particular car had parking assist package. While backing into my driveway the car slammed the breakes, as it thought I was too close to the fence post.
My GLB35 has the parking assist package. When I was testing it first time with parallel parking, it slammed the breaks also. I thought it hit something, but it stopped, because there was an approaching car far away... It is useful when backing out in a parking lot as I don't see incoming cars.
I usually get the beeps for speed reduction for the front. One time I was on the right lane in 2 lane highway and there was a car on the left lane, turning to left. My GLB35 slammed the brakes dropping the speed from 40-45mph to 10-15mph for no reason, maybe the system thought the car in the next lane was in the front. That is the only time I experienced it. Luckily there was no other cars around/behind me. The active brake is speed limited and depends on the options of the car. I don't have driving assistance package, but the parking assist package has the same cameras and sensors, so I assume it is reacting similarly... From GLB user manual:

It only slams the brakes if it thinks you gonna crash into a moving object, such as another car entering your path while you are parking, but assuming the GLB has the same system, the Drive Away Assist will limit the speed to 1 mph if there are obstacles detected less than 3.3 ft away. So if you do crash into something, it will be at very low speed. However, this only engages from a stop if there's an obstacle, not if you are moving already. It engages often for me when I pull out of the garage due to the door frame and me parking close to the wall.

I park regularly in a tight parking garage at work. I rely on my parking assist features, they're invaluable. I feel for the OP.
On a related note, when I was originally looking for a GLB 250, I couldn't believe adaptive cruise wasn't standard in a 51K vehicle. I ended up spending the extra $1,700 for it (which they lumped in with several other features). I wouldn't have bought my GLB without it, as it's huge during my commute from Tampa to Orlando a couple times a week.

The other day I stopped over the crosswalk at a traffic light. I put the car into reverse since there were passengers waiting to cross. There were no cars behind me so I figured I'd just back up a few feet. We couldn't figure out why but after moving backwards maybe a foot or 2 it locked up the breaks. We couldn't figure out what the car thought it was going to hit, but that's the first time I've had the car lock the breaks up.
I feel the complaints, but for the price what do you expect? The GLB base model is as much as a Hyundai or Subaru. Also not to throw salt in the wounds too much but when is it not advisable to throw all extras on a car? No matter what manufacturer what's another $2-5k to have it fully decked out? You should always build a custom vehicle on a corporate website and then compare that build sheet to what's on the lot as a rule of thumb if you aren't going to wait for a special order. It also helps identify which line items are worth it or not. $1k for parktronic, or $1k for Burmester... no brainer on which one is more valuable. For $1k you can get another sound system installed but doubt you're going to be able to find a shop that can install a system similar to parktronic.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but I'll take a stab at it nonetheless. What most here, I believe, are expecting is to get what they purchased. That is, to have the vehicle perform in the way that it was advertised and sold. That's really it. For example, I paid extra to get my vehicle loaded with top level tech and safety features. For that cost, I expect them to work reliably.
For me, it has. Yeah, there are some issues here and there, but no matter the cost, no car is perfect. I love my GLB and every day I drive it, I'm reminded of that. By the way, to compare it to a Hyundai, is a joke by the way. Come on.

Sorry I should have quoted dude I was replying to, I'm still learning how to use a bulletin board, lol. What year is this?
Glad you got the joke, but what I was trying to say is if you get a base model GLB with zero add ons it is like a Hyundai or Subaru. And anybody who walks off the lot without knowing what features their car has or doesn't have is a bit of a fool.
I also agree my GLB floats like a dream compare to those other baby movers. But I got every single package possible on mine. My tint guy for example had tinted a GLB off the lot the day before I took mine in and he said it was like a go cart compare to mine and he said he offended the owner by asking if it was going to be a rental or loaner vehicle. I guess some people just want to flex the label and not really are interested in floating around town like us super cool smart guys :P
