'22 GLB250 SERVICE SHEET

So far so good with the new/used '22 GLB250, certainly a different ride than the ML, really stiff so my next move when the run flats are needing replacement, to purchase normal tires and carry a "Modern spare".. Have you heard of anyone going with an oversized 255/55/R-18 vs. the factory issued 235/55-R tires, we really like the Michelin Defender LTX MS especially in the rain and snow.

I am surprised to see that you feel that 18" wheels are stiff... You can most probably change to non RF tires to make it softer sidewalls. Going 255/55 vs 235/55 will give you 3% perimeter change which is the max permitted. I don't know what MB warranty says for not spec sizes. If you stay 255/50 vs 235/55, it is much closer to the MB spec sheet which should fit without rubbing using GLB35 spec wheel/tire sizes:

GLB35: https://www.wheel-size.com/size/merc...lass-amg/2023/
You can check the calculators below for the wheel/tire changes:

For tires, I summarized the stopping distances in feet per mph from tirerack tests (though different temps might change the results btw different days and also different tire sizes has some impact) using the same car tests:
You can see the performance of the tires usually depends on the compound, eg softer winter/touring tires gives the worst performance with best comfort vs the UHP tires gives the best stopping/acceleration with harder compounds that will give your harsher ride. I went from 21" OEM=>20"=>19" wheels with GLB35 AMG (much stiffer shocks), so 19" wheels feels comfortable enough for me as I can lower the tire pressure to 35/33 with the XL-Extra Load rated Michelin PS A/S 4 tires... I also ordered a spare tire as all my tires are non RF and repair glue wasn't even in the car when I bought it.
Wider width 255 tires should help you to stop/accelerate quickly (if brakes are not at the limit) and will reflect road conditions more on the car (more noise, less comfort). However narrower width 235 tires will give better performance in wet and snowy conditions and might have better ride. So choose your best bet. There is no perfect tire, so choose one depending on your needs. Definitely I would go for CrossClimate2 AW tires for snow performance with softer ride. They are very similar to the Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 winter tires that I use, only lags in wet performance compared to winter tires. In dry/wet performance Michelin Pilot A/S 4 or alternative Conti DWS06+ will give you the best results and lags in snow performance. Michelin Primacy Tour will give middle results which I used it previously also and was satisfied with its performance/comfort with Subaru Forrester XT in driving in heavy snow/rain storms in NY/DC. Also Michelin let you swap tires if you are not happy with them. If you use a local tire shop, it might be easier to test them in your local road conditions.

Run Flat tires - The GLB ride is a tad-bit stiff for me, many say the Run Flats attribute to that stiffness so I’m planning the changeover to regular tires with a “Modern Spare” tucked behind the Driver's seat.
