AMG GLB 35 Maintenance Log
AMG GLB 35 Maintenance Log
As title states, making a "maintenance/service log" for my wife's newly acquired, 2023 AMG GLB 35; being a CPO, we want to log most this info in case we need to provide some form of proof for warranty claims - though the thread is more of a personal record keeping sheet, I'm sure some part numbers can become handy for others! This forum has already proven to be super helpful, even though some information on the GLB 35 is scarce, some members are good at "internet-ing" and providing insightful part numbers/tutorials.
Anyhow, as the miles rack on, we'll focus on sticking to the scheduled maintenance intervals (with the exception of 5k oil changes) and completing them in a DIY fashion as much as possible. Obviously, we want to try and stick to OEM parts as much as we can but I'm sure we may make an exception on a few things from time to time.
Onward - just completed about 1200 miles/16-hour drive from Denver back home to the PNW. The initial idea was to get to shipped but ETA was anywhere from 7 to 21 days...so that prompted me to catch a flight and make the drive home over the course of the weekend. Granted, that didn't go as planned due to a winter storm advisory. So, instead of stopping for the night after a 10-hour trek, I continued on, just passing the wintery conditions over the pass.
Even before hitting the pass, the weather fluctuated every 20 mins along the way - snow, rain, ice, sunshine, I saw it all.
Regardless, the 4Matic system, mated with some Bridgestone winter tires (which are somewhat noisy after 75mph) did a phenomenal job; couldn't have asked for a better performance.
The next day, even with rain in the forecast, I gave it a well-earned hand wash to get rid of any lingering road salt/grime from the 1200 mile journey:
It absolutely requires a proper paint correction and a nice coat of wax - the previous owners prob only used automated car washes...
First order of business after another 3500 miles, will be an oil change - @G63ISH has already done a fantastic job with documenting this (AMG GLB 35 Oil Change - MBWorld.org Forums)
Thereafter, aside from oil changes and cabin/intake filters, it'll come to the trans service, spark plugs and brake fluid flush - more to come as the miles pile on
Edit: can't seem to figure out why it's posting the entire album instead of just the single image link...any insight?

Hit the 5k mark - it was time for an oil change.
Picked up a few OEM filters off FCP Euro and went with Mobil 1. I couldn't justify spending over $6 bucks on a single crush washer, so I opted for a set of 25 off Amazon for about the same price:
Made sure the oil was 229.51 and 229.52 compliant:
As mentioned in another member's post, the oil change was straight forward/typical: all the tools I used were a jack, jack stand, 3/8" Rachet/short extension w/13mm socket and 1/2" Rachet/long extension w/27mm socket, small flathead/pick and a few shop tools (along with drain pan/funnel). I had a total of 9 13mm bolts to remove from the metal splash guard and the oil drain plug was a 13mm as well. Old filter pops off and the new one snaps back into the base after a gentle compression; don't forget those 3 o-ring gaskets (used a pic to remove the old ones).
I read 5.3L and 5.7L as capacity so I went with 5.5L - after a 5 min wait, the oil reading came back as 100%. I did not reset the service indicator as it will be done on the next one (10k service). I like how the engine bay isn't overly covered by plastics:
A couple weeks ago, I did have a paint correction done along with a 2 year ceramic coating:
This Adam's combo seems to be working rather well as maintenance intervals on the ceramic coating:
Lastly, just some observations I've noticed about the GLB 35:
- Fan noise under the dash is loud
- Rear seats seems to "shake" when unoccupied
- Hood shakes at highway speeds
- When using navi, after voice directions cuts back to music, it as a split second when it sounds like the music goes to FULL volume
- Playing music from phone seems to not play as loud as satellite radio stations
- Had a wheel shudder at parking lot speeds which seems to have been resolved with some programming at the dealer
- OEM front brake pads are ridiculously dusty
That's all the rambling I got in me for now; with all that being said, my wife is still loving it. I'll report back on the next service!

The 10k service has come and gone, resetting the maintenance interval thanks to a yt video - pretty straightforward but had to watch the video a few times.
Getting ready for another oil change after another 5k miles but also thinking ahead for the winter. Meaning I've been actively keeping an eye out for a set of winter wheels since we already had fresh Bridgestone tires from last winter.
Luckly, I came across the same OEM AMG 19" wheels we have but in silver. I came across them in the spring, but his asking price was more than I wanted to spend, with the addition of not wanting to separate the winter tires they had on.
After several months, he contacted me and gave me a discount I could not pass up; so after a quick 3 hour round trip, we now have a set of matching winter wheels. Before winter hits, we'll likely hit the 50k mile mark where we will do the plugs, brake fluid, air filter, transmission flush, and cabin filter, along with the oil change. That's all for now!

Hi, IS: Congrats on the winter wheels!
If you still have the YT video link, can you share? I searched just now and no luck;probably not searching just the right terms. Thanks!

Thanks @G63ISH ! I was happy to find them local-ish as I didn't want to pay those eBay prices for similar sets.
I watched a few videos but this one was the most straightforward one:
Some users claim that instead of holding down the "enter/confirm" button, they had to hold the home button in it's place - that was not the case for me. Hope it helps!

Mid December, we decided to get some additional maintenance checked off the list: spark plugs, brake fluid, air filter, transmission flush, rear diff oil change, wipers and cabin filter, along with the oil change.

My brother helped me with the spark plugs which were a bit of a pain but with a swivel spark plug remover and proper pliers to remove the coil over the plug, it was doable. Also knocked out the wipers.

Took us about 1.5 hours but we weren't really all that rushed.

For the trans oil change, I had one of my tech buddies knock it out while we were out of town for a few weeks. Said it was straightforward but the cartridge filter (the black box shaped one in the 1st pic/right side) is instructed to be done with a complete overhaul of the trans is needed and would add several hours of labor just to get to it. So, we left it as-is till the next service. Otherwise, brake fluid change, rear diff change, filters changed and that brings us up to date.

Some additional notes:
- there seems to be an odd "knocking" noise coming from the front of the car - tends to happen more while cold and stop and go traffic - dealer couldn't find the source.
- parking lot speeds, while turning, there's a constant "squeak", reminding me of a dried-out ball joint - dealer retorqued bolts and determined nothing needs replaced.
- there seems to be some oil build-up between the block and trans - dealer claims it not worth further inspection at this time...

Hi there! Thank you for posting this! Was your mid-December maintenance done for B-Service, and/or any other items in the guide for your mileage? Curious so I can save all your notes here for my GLB 35. Thank you!
Hey G63! We were near the 50K milestone, so we opted to follow the service guide I believe you've come across here on the forums:

I also reached out to my local dealer in hopes of getting an updated service sheet, but they simply refused to share it. They did, however, provide a list of part numbers for what we were trying to complete. FCP Euro also provided a list of updated part numbers as well - they were a much friendly contact.

In other news, a few months back, the gas lid/door was stuck and would not open. We have CPO warranty but the dealer couldn't see us till about a week out. The only option was to manually release the door...
There wasn't much information out there but I figured it had to have one...found a reddit post about someone in a GLA having a similar situation so I dug in.
Removed the rear trim, pulled back the carpet panel, reached in behind the white insulation and looked for a release button of sorts...got lucky and popped it open. Dealer quoted about $500 I beleive to get it fixed, however; as mentioned, CPO warranty covered it.
That's all for this one!
I asked my buddy and he recalls it may have been integrated but would have to look into it. Wish I had a definite answer for you.
