2016 GLC300 4Matic Transmission jolt/jerking problem
I've had my new GLC for about a week now. At least a couple times a day I experience a weird jolt/clunk/jerking from the transmission. Typically this happens when I am slowing down for a stop sign or traffic light. It seems to be between either third to second gear, or perhaps 4th to 2nd. I can't replicate it every time, so perhaps it has to do with the slope of the road, or maybe light application of the throttle.
I did some research and was alarmed that the new C-Class has a terrible problem almost identical to that which I am experiencing.

But I had thought the GLC had an entirely new transmission, but perhaps it is the same as the C-Class (which would make sense)
I just traded my 2014 Q5 which never had anything like this, I also have a 2015 2 Series BMW Convertible that has a silky smooth transmission.
Am I alone?

I'd schedule a service appointment. Our GLC300 with the new 9 speed tranny has been silky smooth since the day we got it. Imperceptible would be how I'd describe it and even smoother than my 2016 C300 Sport. The transmission in the GLC is not the same as in the C Class, btw.

Sport and sport+ are going to have much harsher downshifting by design (especially in lower gears) as the transmission will attempt to keep the RPMs rather high to stay in the power portion of the torque/HP curve. This will cause increased engine braking from the compression which you can definitely feel.

I have noticed this issue in Comfort and ECO modes, not yet driven enough in SPORT to determine if it happens there also. But annoyingly I've become so anxious about the clunking sound when downshifting it is changing how I drive! I sure hope it is an easy fix and not the start of some enduring drama similar to many C-Class owners.

I am having the same issue, which is really uncomfortable.

I brought to dealership, they said they rerun the computer program to help me. However this issue still exist. I am still negotiation now. I think this is unfixable, which is really really really uncomfortable.

So far, our car has been silky smooth. I cannot really feel the transmission shift. I have to watch the display to see what gear it is in.

My experience is, that when I am coming off of coasting as you turn a corner and you want to give it gas, it's clunky. I am new to Mercedes and I must say my Lexus had a much smoother transmission. The smoothest I have come up with so far is the transmission in Eco mode and of course that awful, auto stop/ start turned OFF. It will be interesting to see where this thread leads us.

GLC300 2016 in the shop AGAIN - transmission
My GLC300 (not 4Matic) started out with a silky smooth transmission.
At about 2800 miles, I started experiencing the THUNK followed by an experience with the car simply not being in gear, loosing speed, and increasing RPMs. To recover, I can take my foot off the gas, count to three and listen for the RPMs to calm down. Then the transmission seems to recover. Happened initially from gears 3 to 4 when driving the car after it sat overnight.
Fixed at the dealer once.
2 weeks later - it's happening again, but between 8 and 9. When I should be accelerating to get on the freeway or keeping up with traffic - the THUNK followed by loss of acceleration, white knuckle fear and prayers to all deities for grace and safety.
It's in the shop again. I'm very disappointed.
I LOVED this vehicle (my first MB) until this happened.

How horrific! When you took it to the dealer the first time what did the say was the problem? When did you receive your car? I took delivery of my car in January and the same problem happened to me once.

I bought the car and took delivery late December. The dealership has been responsive. They've opened a case with mb and have spent a lot of time evaluating. My understanding.is that it is a timing issue with computer components - or at least that's how they fixed it the first time. It's had a few other quirks that are electronic in nature. Weird indicators showing up at the wrong time - like passenger airbag info and key not in car (when the key is on the car). The other problems quickly go away or have no operational impact.

From Automobile comparo GLC, X4, Macan:
GLC 300 transmission and cabin noise: "....but we noted rough shifts with the throttle mashed. And at speed, the GLC has the least isolated cabin of the three"

2016 GLC 3000 = miles
I have a transmission and engine problem on one of the first deliveries of this model. The transmission jerks unexplained. I was stranded at an intersection could only go 1 mile per hour. Applied flashers and crawled into a walgreens parking lot. Killed the engine and restarted and it worked. No problem BUT Now it is in the dealership with a code they can't recognize. They have called Germany. I have never had this problem with mercedes.I have owned 6 other models.Do I change companies,-Trade or what?

I also have this with a Feb build. In C mode the transmission sometimes makes jerky shifts. Mostly in lower gears when slowing down or slowing turning and accelerating.
Mercedes please provide a fix!

i've had my car for 2 weeks now and just under 400km and the only jolting i feel is in sport and sport + mode which is normal and in comfort mode between 2nd and third gear which feels more like its associated with the gearing ratios. other than that its silky smooth.

Reading the issues above is truly disappointing as I was hoping the new 9G did away with the 7G's long laborious history of shifting issues since the 9G was highly touted by MB for smooth shifting in their press releases.
I drove the new GLE 450 coupe when it first came out last year at a local dealership and it clunked loudly on a 2-3 shift right out of the dealership (car had about 10 miles)...this wasn't a good first impression with the new 9G...I was hoping by now that MB would have rectified any shifting issues. Clunking, jerking etc. are not normal even when in sport mode(s).
I really hope these issues are nothing more than programming and if so a fix should have been issued by now. Has anyone had their issues rectified as of yet and if so what was the solution?
