Naviplus Screen rear bottom view.

From my visit and discussions with Tim it appears that the screen is well made. It uses a LG panel and it has some weight to it.

The bracket is very solid and attaches firmly to the screen with two screws securing it in place.

The screen is a touch screen BUT only when being used for the optional navigation system. The touch functionality does not work for any of the Mercedes Benz menus or navigation systems.

The airplay and mirror link features only work to display what is on your phone onto the screen. You can not control your phone from the touchscreen. The unresolved issue due to the fact that Naviplus have not yet installed their system in a GLC is related to audio integration when using Airplay/Mirrorlink. For audio integration to work the audio signal will need to be sent either by Bluetooth or USB.

@Penn - thanks for seeing this system first hand and posting pics. (BTW - the pic with the wiring instructions is upside down, but since the text is 99% Chinese - it doesn't matter!

Your summary of when the touch can be used is exactly what I had already stated earlier, and this is one big difference between Naviplus/Mirrorlink and CarPlay. CarPlay provides a stripped down simplified phone interface that can be controlled by the wheel/touchpad on new MB models that support it.

Ironically, Naviplus/Mirror big screen touch control of the phone isn't supported due to safety/legal reasons. Pretty sure accessing the phone directly instead would be a lot more dangerous - unless you wisely hand this over to a co-pilot/navigator.

Still - just being able to view Google maps mirrored on the big screen would be really nice, along with the existing excellent phone bluetooth integration.

I am hoping we will see CarPlay be available at some point in the future for our GLC's.

Here is a quite good explanation of CarPlay:
http://www.whathifi.com/news/what-ap...-cars-features

Currently CarPlay requires a USB WIRED connection - however, wireless capability was announced by Apple. Battery life is a big issue, so phone probably needs to be plugged in for power eventually anyway - unless wireless charging pads are provided.

Still hoping we can get CarPlay (and even Android Auto) as an upgradable option on our GLC's - wired or not, in the near future.

2006 RX400h. Will buy GLC 300 soon.
I spoke to my sales rep who just returned from a class a week ago and he said there will be no CarPlay for either 2017 or 2018. He didn't know if it was upgradable after mkt.

The Polish configurator has option for selecting Apple Carplay on GLC. My dealer just got information that new GLCs can be ordered with Carplay from summer 2017.

CarPlay and Andriod Auto are in the configurator for the US for 18 as well; however, they can not be ordered with command/navigatin so the smaller screen (i believe 7") looks like is what we will be getting. Dealer wasn't 100% on that but it looks like it will be the case.

?? So it's EITHER carplay OR the standard full size COMAND? Weird.

Eh, oh well, our car arrives in port in 2 more weeks, no carplay, not a big deal.

I don't see a problem (technically) to update existing Comand systems to Carplay/Android Auto. The hardware is there...

Gamin maps suck! We want Google Maps!

Thanks Vet11b for confirming the 2018 configurator lists the CarPlay (and Android Auto!) options. Is there a link to it you can provide, or is it dealers only for now?

I have the 2016 GLC without the Nav/Command unit, so am dependent on Google maps on phone, just that it would be really nice to see the display on a bigger screen without having to mount phone.

So the big question now is - when or if there will be an UPGRADE provided for non-Command GLC's?

It's only dealer for now, as far as I can tell. Wish I had a link so I could obsess over my choices.

I asked the sales manager that question back in December. He said he'd never heard of such a thing being done and that he thought it was unlikely.

So, it's possible but not likely.

Anyone here care to grab the latest dealer order guide (DOG) from their salesperson? I think the latest one on these forums is from last year.

GLC 2018
Having just ordered a 2018 GLC, I have some useful info:

CarPlay/Android Auto is available for cars produced mid-August and later.

Was about to order it, but then Dealer told me that the Advanced Driving Assist package (which I really wanted) requires the Multimedia Package (with the Navigation and larger screen). But the Multimedia package is INCOMPATIBLE with the SmartPhone Integration Package (Car Play / Android Auto).

This is very DUMB, but it is what it is.

And the dealer showed me the 2018 GLC config guide and it clearly says this.

What I really want (in addition to the Advanced Driving Assist) is Smartphone Integration and larger screen. The SmartPhone Integration is only available with the smaller screen.
