No Carplay till 2017
Dealer tells me 2017 will have it, is it worth the wait?
when do you think the build sheet will be out for the 2017?

The following may be an option with the Mirrorlink/AirPlay option.

This looks like a great solution to mirroring an Android phone (or Apple) - and it upgrades the screen to 8" which I wasn't looking for, but the added price isn't too bad. I'll have to write them to see if their SKU MB80A20CC product is compatible with the US GLC 300. Cost in US dollars is $665 ($940 AU).
Biggest concern is voiding the factory warranty on a mod like this.

I still haven't been able to determine if it could be added on with a software update once MB is ready for it in the GLC. It doesn't seem like it would be a hardware thing.

I'm still communicating with the Naviplus guys in Australia trying to get a better understanding of the capability and compatibility of their system. They have been very responsive to my questions. I'll post a summary soon.
I did specifically ask them about how this could affect the MB warranty, and here's a direct quote from Tim at Naviplus:

Lastly, installation of an aftermarket system will not void warranty straight away, also from our local dealerships in Australia, they couldn't tell after installation was done & they aren't fuss with it. As long as It doesn't interfere with car's ECU and electrical system, which our system obviously doesn't.

It's not something that can currently be retrofit to a GLE, so I doubt it will retro into a GLC once it's released.

Sorry for not responding sooner - was hoping to hear how Penn's visit went.
The last conversation I had with Naviplus, they asked me what sort of inputs Audio20 had in the GLC. Replied it has 2 USB ports - that's it. No followup since then.
I understand that the replacement screen works with touch when used with the optional Navigation system. But with the MirrorLink system connected to the phone, touch isn't supported on the big screen - you have to use the phone's screen or voice to control the phone.

GariOkie, I got a reply from Naviplus. Looks like Airplay/Mirrorlink requires a Aux port / or similar port in glove box. I didnt find any port in GLC300 glovebox. Do you think it's still possible to add this to GLC300?

I finally did receive a reply from Naviplus yesterday (after I had already confirmed to them the GLC has 2 USB ports and no Aux). The optional MirrorLink box requires a connection for sound to the MB speakers, and they are looking into how they can do this on the GLC. An FM transmitter was mentioned as a possibility as well as a USB to AUX adapter.
They are expecting an Australian GLC owner to drop by soon (@Penn?) so they can try a few things (that don't require a dashboard removal!).
At this point, we need our fellow GLC owners who can work directly with Naviplus and see this system first hand to report on progress and how well if/when this actually works.

Sorry to come to the party late but what is Carplay? I'm an Android boy, I can stream my music via bluetooth without and issue. The Premier+ pack also comes with a 20Gb or so hard drive to load all your music on, so why is Carplay integration so important?

It's basically just a tighter integration for Apple device that puts the Apple GUI on screen in the car. It's supposed to provide a safer way to interact with the iPhone.

I wanted to let you all know that I played around with a few models today and CarPlay is indeed available and functions very well. Here is a list of all models that have CarPlay available. Be sure to look for 'smartphone integration' on the window sticker. I anticipate more models having it available soon. Also, your standard USB charging cable works and you do not need a special media interface cable.
MY16 CLA and GLA with either 1) Stand-alone package (Code 868 - smartphone integration package) that is $350 or 2) Revised Multimedia Package (this code is 32C instead of 320)
MY16 E-Class Coupes and Cabriolets as part of Premium 1 (P01) Package
MY16 CLS400 as part of Premium 2 (P02) Package
MY16 CLS550 and CLS63-S as standard equipment with COMAND
MY16 GLE300d and GLE350 as part of Premium (P01) Package
MY16 GLE400, GLE450 Coupe, GLE63 and GLE63-S as standard equipment with COMAND
MY17 GLS WILL have it as part of P01. I would anticipate it to be included somehow in future MY17 model productions and possible later production dates for current MY16 models (ie GLC which just released)
Just thought it'd be nice to pass along a little bit of info...
