Noise from dash
I found out that from time to time, there is this noise coming out from the dashboard sounds like a screw shaked inside a plastic box, anyone else experiencing that? And what can be the cause?

Yes, I thought a small rock hit my hood or windshield. But no nicks are left. And this is happening so often now even when there are no cars around me and the road is pretty clean. I also noticed it usually happens when I'm turning the wheel, for example start to make the turns or change lanes. Does it match your observation?

The service guy said that the sound is normal and it's cancelling a turn signal mechanical lock, so the switch can go back to the normal position automatically later when you finish your turn. To me, this does only happen when I start to turn the wheel after signaling turn. If it sounds different to you, we are talking about two different sounds then.

Did you get it checked by your dealer? I still feel it a bit annoying so I am planning to have my dealer to double check it next time I go there.

Bringing this topic to the top of the forum, as I'd like to know if others notice the same and also don't think it is normal.
I haven't got a chance to check this again with the dealer though.

I brought it to the dealer and they say it's the echo from suspension, put some panel to my right front wheel and now everything's fine so far

I am going to check out mine
To me, I am hearing noise either in the cabin or suspension when I make left turns. I commute daily to work and park on a third floor parking garage. Every turn I made I am hearing some noises, but not so much on my way out as I make more right turns.

Does it happen no matter whether you signal (by pressing the combination switch beyond the pressure point) or not?

For example, I also notice, when I release accelerator pedal suddenly, there will be noticeable noises.

then, the noises we noticed are different. Mine only occurs after I signal (by pressing the combination switch beyond the pressure point) and turn the steering wheel a bit.

Dealer Service department took my car today. A technician was riding with us and I was able to 'demo' the noises. It's been whole afternoon and I haven't heard what they find yet.

No charge to me; was a warranty issue.

Yes. this matches what I wrote about in the "Niggles" thread on this blog. I took my GLC in and they did some test drives and used some instruments to determine that the left front strut needed replacing; the parts were not in distribution yet so I had to wait for them to come in to have the issue resolved. Since then, no creaking noise.

I just called in and the service advisor told me some link inside the dash got loosen. I will find out more tomorrow when the car is ready.
I think in my case it is also warranty covered, but I hope this issue doesn't cause any cascading side effect...
Keep my fingers crossed.

I'm attaching my service invoice when my GLC had what sounds like may have been the same issue. It also includes notes how they detected the noise in the first place, and of course what parts were replaced. Since this service, no more noise.

I will inform the service adviser with information you provided.

I have the same issue. Brought to dealer today and they founf the noise comes from strut mount. They've ordered a replacement and will replace the mount tomorrow to see if fixed. Will keep update tomorrow.

I have the noise issue also. Really noticeable the last two days especially when driving on bumpy roads. I recorded the sounds just in case for the dealer. Going to try and bring in this week.

Service department that I am working with will order part for struts.
We don't know if the part will come domestic or overseas yet. I will get a notification tomorrow.
Now my car is in the shop for 7 days... (I've only have it for 3 weeks)

Would you mind uploading your sound record so others including myself can check if we hear the same kind of noise? Thanks a lot

Just past week when the weather warmed up to 60-70s, I heard a rattling, creaking sound from our driver's side dashboard. It sounds high pitched/ metallic like a screw is loose and occasionally I can also hear a louder "creak" at the same area. This happens when driving straight and when I hit potholes or even slight bumps on the road. So I made an appointment with the dealership to have it looked at. When I drove it in today with the temperature dropping back to 40-50s, the sound vanished. Murphy's Law..
