Mercedes GLC43
Is the squealing brakes issue isolated to the GLC300, or does the GLC43 also have the issue?

Another fix bulletin and resolution will take up more than a year I guess from now on. I am not sure what Mercedes is really doing with this matter.
I heard that C400 has similar brake problems and still no fix for them.

What if we use parts from Non-Mercedes compatible brake?
I am scared to do so since it could mess up things more.

We are installing/testing Meyle semi-metallic front pads ($40) matched with the available "updated" rear pads next week... I should know more in a couple of weeks which is better than June/July..

I had the same problem with my new GLC43 with only less then 1000KM on it.. Brought the car back to the dealer and they told me was some rust on the brake. So, they cleaned and the noise is gone... but I told them a new luxury car found rust on it, it is a bit unheard .

DEALERS HAVE RECEIVED "SOME" UPDATED FRONT PADS

Dealers have just received limited# of updated/updated front pads.... for this 1st shipment - dealers were allocated about 30% the qty each dealer had on back order for customer complaints.

Worth a call to your dealer to see if they can get you in.

Keep the beat !

Rust on the rotors is normal regardless if the car is new/old. However, if there is rust on other areas, that is not normal.

Noisy brakes

Our new GLC250 has not so much a screech as an almost deep grunt when backing down our steep driveway.

Looks like I am on the same boat here. Dealer put the back order on new breaks but worst case could be couple of months

A couple of months is worst case scenario? That actually sounds better than most are expecting. If they have indeed fixed the issue.

I was expecting more like 6 months. Which, incidentally, is a little after my self-set deadline for when I'm contacting my lemon law lawyer, as it expires 2 years from purchase in my state.

Any updates with MB bulletins? or has anyone received the fix with the newest bulletin?
People seem quieter now as they get tired of this matter or is problem solved?

I think people are probably quieter as the weather has been warmer, so this issue will probably go away until next fall/winter. Just a guess though.

Can anyone comment on having received the new pads and what the brake dust condition is? I have to admit I like that the OE pads produce very little -- almost nonexistent -- dust. My last three Mercedes before the GLC were horrible brake dust generators.

So I'm playing with the idea of keeping my OE pads especially since its warming up, and things are quieting. In that regard, is anyone with relatively higher mileage (say 20K+ miles) experiencing a decrease in backup brake squeal?

Hello to Everyone from Bangalore, India.

This is my first post in these forums.

Owner of a GLC 220d from Oct 2016.My GLC 220d has this brake squealing issue from the first month. MB and their dealers here were pushing this issue under the rug. Among the reasons quoted were dust, moisture etc .

They have now acknowledged the issue and are now waiting for a resolution from MB.

I called my dealership today and they said that they still haven't received the new composite pads (on backorder); however, I was at the top of the list. They mentioned they should be available soon, but they said that last month as well. It has turned cold again and the brakes are screeching!

Front brakes were replaced in December per the bulletin and rear brakes replaced in late February. There is a change in grease recommended for the fix which was changed in late January I believe. So when the dealer serviced our rear brakes, they removed the front pads and greased the backside of those with the different/updated grease.

I would say the squeal issue is mostly gone now. They haven't squealed at all backing out of driveway. They squealed once while I was parallel parking. So, the squealing is so far 95% gone, which is acceptable. And the squeal I heard when parking was much quieter.

I was on the list for rear brakes for about 3 months.

It's dipped down to 12 degrees F or so...no squealing.

I'm glad the recent fix worked because we had a lawsuit all set to file.

I also received a call from service department that the brake parts are in. The store is MB of Euromotorcars, MD.
I reported the issue to the dealership back in Dec during the 10k miles service.

Anyone know if a car built after Feb 1 would get the new brakes at the factory or be shipped with the old parts? Thanks

Angry screeching brakes

2013 S class 550 4 matic.... At 15000 brakes squealed front and rear change out to new pads , rotors and sensor on all four wheels .... At 26000 they began to screech again MB said they would not replace rotors or pads that there were 6 mm on pads, rotors looked fine... screeching left at 50000 miles.... Never came back. all 4 wheels needed pads , rotors and sensors at 65000... replaced by MB. after 2000 miles screeching has returned... Brutal! I think its a product fault and for whatever reasons its not being made public.... More to come
