The standard delivery fee which is ~$950 is standard across. Is that what you are referring to as the transportation fee? I asked my dealer to be very upfront and transparent about all costs. I was told the delivery fee and some kind of dealer fee of ~$75 would be the only ones apart from taxes.

I've been reading a lot about % discounts and I see it varies a lot by location and dealers within a location too. The last 2016 ones have been going for discounts as high as 11-12% off MSRP. That makes sense as the new inventory will be available soon. On the 2017s, I had a really hard time negotiating. Dealers were willing to give more % off on 2016s than 2017s. I managed a 8.5% overall but another location and a dealer with bigger volumes should be able to give you a better deal. I'm in Minneapolis btw.

Folks:

My car is built.

My GLC originally had a build-by date of late-June but the date was later pushed back to July 14. As of today, my car has been built --- and, even better, it has been assigned to a vessel (which is often a choke-point). The dealer expects it to be loaded on the vessel today or tomorrow.

I do not know how long it takes to get across the ocean --- does anyone know?

The dealer told me that when it gets to the Port of Baltimore, there may well be a delay because all special order cars are being inspected by EPA to ensure that a VW-like problem doesn't exist.

With European Delivery program you get 7% off automatically without any additional fees (no $925 destination fee and no any advertising fees, documentation fees, etc.) and you would expect another 3%-4% on the top of 7%. Just overall process time a bit longer, but a lot of fun.

You should be able to get the vessel name and then track it on vesselfinder dot com.

The step in Baltimore could take a month. Cars are sent to Baltimore so they can be released as soon as EPA approval is granted. They want to make sure that the pipeline is loaded for EPA approval. The US release date will be when the first car is driven on a truck out of the port.

Yes, I had 10% off MSRP and no other fees at all. But by knowing now that dealer gets 10% profit from ED program I would negotiate more than 3%.
The timing was : Order May 21, built August 8, delivery in Germany August 27, drop off in Frankfurt September 3d and car arrived to my dealership in MI on October 3d.
"The step in Baltimore could take a month" - in my case it was a few days...

All, I talked to my dealer again today and my vehicle has arrived in the US and he has a "control number" for it (not sure what that means) . He said it will be at dealer in Houston in 7-10 days!

I basically got a P2 package with the Burmeister added on as a separate option..... Again, not sure of exact pricing (MSRP) but it should be about $49k...

I think 10% off MSRP for a 2017 (not ED just normal) seems pretty aggressive to me, but great if you can get it! I think I am looking at 8% or so which I thought was pretty good...

What?! So not fair! I placed my order mid-May and it hasn't arrived yet. It's just at the port in Europe.

Actually, it's probably because my car is red and they do the unusual paint colors less frequently.

Yeah, I managed a 8.5% off on normal (not ED) and that itself was a struggle. Couple of dealers said the best they could do was 7.5% and 8% respectively and said "no deal" after that. But, I do think it varies to some amount depending on location and dealer volume. If you can get 10% on a 2017 GLC without ED, awesome!

Typical invoice for Mercedes is 93% of MSRP/Sticker. Hence, 7%.

Found this. Looks like the production started on 1st July. Coincidentally, 30th June is the date they made the final package structure revision (unless they make one more).

MINDC, did you have the Driver's Assistance Package as part of your spec? I'm just trying to understand if that could potentially be a delaying factor as I had heard loose talks around those not being easily available. Jtt1234 has P02 with Burmester so doesn't have the DAP. How about you? The previous post says dates could vary depending on exact configuration, hence curious since we now know yours was built.

Interesting as supposedly my GLC was actually made on June 23. I have added the 996 – Advanced Parking Assist Package - not sure if this is same as Drivers Assistance? This package is very rare on production models as only a few 2016s had it....

That's different from the APA package. But I did see the APA on a few 2016 GLCs around here in Minneapolis. It was harder to find ones with the DA package but that might be true only for my area. When we looked at inventory across the country, there were a good 20 or so available.

Watchg41, interesting, in the texas region there were only a handful (5-6) with APA, not sure about the DA....

Can't place order?

I have been trying to order a GLC since late April. First was told '16's were not orderable and had to wait for '17 allocations. Then, blah blah blah. Latest is Burl Walnut trim isn't avail until Oct (maybe) and the system won't let them enter my specs in the order bank so that it picks up an Oct allocation automatically. Might be a system glitch but they don't know. I asked them to call HQ or IT and they say the guy they'd normally go to is on it. Hard to spend money with this company. Any one else getting the run around?

My two cents, the problem is with your dealer. If you try to custom order, ur dealer should switch the closest spec S -"stock" car from another dealer, and load it up based on ur specs and label is C -"customer".

They said they tried that but availability of Burl Walnut is the issue...
