MEDIA and IPOD

But, I am old school and use an old IPOD to store and play all 10,000 songs through the MB stereo.
I have just always connected via the USB ports in the dash console. It has NEVER been a problem until today. Now for some reason my IPOD is unrecognizable or unsupported by the MB system
Thought it may be an old cord causing some trouble . Changed it. No better.
Then I thought maybe it just all needs to be turned off and disconnected then started up again from scratch. Still no better.
Any thoughts?
Before you new kids tell me I shouldn't use an IPOD anyway etc...I get it. But the solution I am trying to solve for is why everything worked just fine up until yesterday and now it isn't recognized at all.
Ipod is functioning fine
Cord wasn't the answer.
Restart/reboot wasn't the answer.
Looking for genius assistance !!!
Regards everyone
Jeff
