IMPORTANT - New GLC 300 Owners

Please note that MB recommends that you drive in Mode E for the first 1000 miles and do no accelerate too hard. (Default mode is C).

My sales guy did not know until I told him after reading the manual.

Personally, I will not exceed 60 mph for the first 500 miles and will drive in E mode for the first 1000 miles. Any other suggestions are welcome.

Reason - GLC has high compression engine (Ration 10:1)and you want the piston rings to have better mating with the liner surface.

A gaggle of MB's
The "most important" parts of the 1st 1000mi/1500km is to (1) drive "varying speeds" (2) don't use manual to downshift (3) when using manual climb to 50% max rpm's in that gear

On your "E" setting - that's "ideally" and by specific definition not "most important".

Frankly - after 30yrs experience with MB's - and solid experience with new gen - personally I recommend drive-it-and-have-fun - just avoid max RPM - and you will be fine.

"mating rings with liner surface" - that's kindof a chuckle - the hardness of both now-a-days would be like rubbing two diamonds together to make them smoother..

Too late for me! I'd haven't even tried the Eco mode.

When I picked up my car from the factory, they just told me to keep it under 3500 rpm (or in other words, keep it out of Sport+ mode, as the other modes shift earlier than that anyways).

I guess I trust what the guys at the factory in Germany tell me
