Must-have, no. But it is definitely very very high on my nice-to-have list. As mentioned in this thread, there are 2 keyless features that MB offers:

Keyless start = push button start
Keyless go = keyless start + ability to lock/unlock doors without using key fob buttons, so fob can remain in pocket/purse

I think part of the confusion (and complaint) is that both are fairly standard on cars even 5+ years old. I had both on my 2011 and 2013 Infinitis, and it was standard. If I recall, my wife's 2010 Murano had both capabilities as well.

On the topic of remote start, I could not agree more with the people that stated here that it should be a function on the key fob. Having to use an app is "cool", but not really practical. It is fine if I am in my house and will be leaving in 5 minutes. But not nearly as useful when out and about and I just want to be able to click-and-start quickly. Not to mention, the Mercedes Me app is ssllllloooowwwwwwwwwwww.

In Italy (and in the most part of Europe) Keyless Start is an option: how many changes could be necessary for upgrade this start function? Is the key the same?...

Key looks the same. But wiring and sensors are different. Very expensive and may be impossible to do.
