From 2016 Volvo XC90 to euro delivery 2017 GLC300 in February!
Just a quick hello to say that my wife and I will soon be taking (euro!) delivery of our new 2017 GLC300 4MATIC in about 2 weeks, and expect to have it here in California end of April! It's a fully-loaded designo white on designo black. Pictures when I have them!
We're coming from a 2016 Volvo XC90 that, after about 1 week of ownership, was in the shop for about a month, after which Volvo started a buy-back process in July 2016, ultimately completed in October 2016. It was a great car -- the third row seats legitimately useful for average-sized adults -- with phenomenal tech and eye bleeding beauty, inside and out, but truth be told, we didn't need the third row, and in any event, obviously that experience left a bitter taste in our mouth. The $200/month reduction in lease payments for the GLC is just icing on the cake.
The singular feature we needed in a new car though -- and by "needed," I mean, "really insisted on having" -- was as much semi-autonomous functionality as we could get. While we wanted an SUV-style car, we might have settled for an E Class Wagon with Drive Pilot except that, fully loaded, it was just too pricy.
That said, one thing that blew us away about the GLC is that, despite its admittedly smallish exterior, its interior volume is nearly identical to the larger GLE and BMW X5. No idea how (or why), though I suspect it's because the cargo area in the back is sacrificed a bit.
Anyway, we're very excited to get our new car, and can't wait to break her in on the delicious autobahns of Germany!
We had a day-long test drive in a GLE, while it wasn't any bigger inside, it felt like a much larger car, and less agile than the GLC.
We got the full Driver Assistance package, which we also have in our 2015 E350, but in the GLC, there are many small improvements, such as reduced dithering in the automatic lane-keeping feature.

Oops, my bad. I meant to say improvements in the GLC compared to my E350, not GLE. My fingers got confused.
I expect you'll be extremely pleased with your GLC.
So you're saying .... the GLC > E350?
Which year of E350 though, surely not the new 2017 with Drive Pilot? I.e., I suspect the hierarchy of autonomy competence today is:
Tesla > 2017 E350 > GLC300 & Volvo XC90 > [everybody else]
I haven't driven the newer Teslas, only earlier ones with no autonomous driving features, nor the Volvos, so I don't know about them.
I plan to get an E300 later this year, probably a 2018, to replace the 2015 (wifey's car).

Unfortunately though, we're only going to have 3 days with our car.
Oh well.... we'll get about 8 hours of autobahn driving in, though, so that should be good
