Garmin Pilot Map-will it work with 2016 GLC3000
My 2016 GLC300 is equipped with these options (without any factory installed navigation package).
270 GPS ANTENNA
522 AUDIO 20 RADIO NAVIGATION CAPABLE NTG5
I came across this map package sold by MB (part # 205-820-48-00). Per CS rep this appears to be a USB stick. Has any one tried this with 2016 model (without SD card slot) using the available USB port?

Are you talking to MB Customer Service in German ?
Since the "part" you are asking about is a adapter port for German taxi navigation unit - used for C-Class built for use as German taxi's...
If you are here in US - I have no idea who are talking to regarding 205-820-48-00 - has nothing to do with US/North-America mate..

I'm sorry - they are mis-interpreting limited information on their screen - which shows this as "Internal Part" - and where it is labeled "TS Communication Module" which means Taxi Service - and that same screen would lead them to know 0 parts outside Germany - 65 on hand in Germany for taxi conversion there - has nothing to do with Garmin

You asked here on the forum - to be helpful I had my guys pull that part# from the Mercedes system..
Website source - nothing to do with MB - is incorrectly misinterpreting the limited info they have.
"TS = Taxi Service"
Go ahead - order it - let me know when you get it in and installed - that way I can alert MB OTIS worldwide that this is really for US Garmin and NOT for Gerrman taxi's - heck that really opens up the market - so MB can ramp up production to make more than the 65 they have in Germany right now - great frigging news !

This is the same part you are referencing;

Yes, it's logical to question whether or not a 2016 GLC equipped with code 522, but without the SD card slot, will support the Garmin Map Pilot loaded thru the USB. This question has been floated in this forum previously without (as far as I know) any confirmation as to success or failure.

It seems the # 205-820-4800 is just a hardware kit, once installed you should be able to plug in the SD card GMP (# 205-906-5502). The question “whether or not a 2016 GLC equipped with code 522, but without the SD card slot, will support the Garmin Map Pilot loaded thru the USB” remains open. Looks like nobody tried this yet.

Since you asked - let me again tell you - it's a German part for Taxi-Service adapter - yes the German TS system is a card based system - but this part has nothing to do with Garmin SD system..

No, it will not work through the USB port. However, your local dealer will be able to retrofit the pre-wiring necessary in order for you to use the Map Pilot navigation. The pre-wiring includes the GPS antenna and a revised media interface in yoiur centre console with gives you a SD card slot and two USB slots. Thereafter it is simply a matter of buying the SD card and putting it in the slot. It installs itself.

If all that is missing is the SD card slot on the U.S. version of the 2016 GLC, then would a SD to USB adapter work?

2016 USA model GLC did not have Garmin GPS prewired as an option. I do not believe you can retro your car in the USA. Option for Garmin became available on 2017 GLCs for USA

A GLC is a GLC. They are all built in the same factory. If a Mercedes dealer can retrofit the navigation pre-wiring in South Africa for the equivalent of about US $450, its counterpart in the US can order the same parts and fit it.

Perhaps a good place to start is to check the build codes for the 2017 basic GLC media system and see what code(s) in addition to the 2016 basic 270 (GPS antenna) and 522 (nav capable system) indicate what's going on. Of course, the SD slot is added for the 2017. Is that it? Is it still the 522 system or something else? Are any other Garmin applicable codes listed? And finally, is it only a 522 software update to use the Garmin in the 2016 GLC?
