Took my GLC in today for the new brake pads and a map update. Verified with my dealer that I 'have' to request it to get it. I even bought the prepaid service plan and I still have to request it when I take it in. Next thing you know I'll have to request new oil not used.

that is so dumb from a company like Mercedes-Benz, who really did used to go all out on their cars. another reason i firmly believe Mercedes of the pre-2000s is still gone and that the new MB relies heavily on their history which they don't honour anymore.

So you're saying they took the maps backward?? What version did you have before going to the dealer?

I had Version 6.1 but I see other people on this site in the US with Version 10.
Seems Mercedes won't do anything more than they have to. The version they gave me is even dated 2016 vs others say 2017/2018.

This is very confusing for me too, I just got back from the dealership , I brought the car in today for the A service, I have a GLC300 2016, they said the version of my Nav is the recent one , they checked the system and said there is no way for them to update.
I have the 2016 .7 version Map

That is very strange. Maybe try another dealer and see what they have to say? The only difference is that mine is a GLC43, but that shouldn't matter.

I just talked to MB customer service on the phone, according to them the version in your car had just some visual differences because it's a different year, but the core of the software it's the same.
Who knows.....

I just took in my 2016 GLC. Purchased June/2016. Service tells me I have the most recent version (2016 V7.0) I mention that the loaner has a 17/18 V 10.0 and he says that is for a different GPS (it is in a C class car.) So no update for me.

I just picked up my 2017 GLC 300 and it has the V10 NA maps on it. I don't think the COMMAND version / model changed on the GLC between 2016 and 2017 did it?

I'm going to bring this up to him later today. It's getting the brakes done and he called me letting me know about the non-update. I recalled this thread, so I reread it tonight. I'll be sharing this, again, and try to get some explanation.

And I also don't buy that the C class sedans use different map software. I suspect it is possible, but pretty silly in light of trying to keep costs in line... the more "parts" sharing the better.

I talked my dealer again. She says that MB updates the maps about every 18 months. Even though there are newer versions, she's figuring that the new updates just aren't available. I guess I buy that, but if there is a version on new models, how did they put that on the new models? It can't be that costly to make the new versions available to the dealers. Oh well, it's really not that big a deal for me, but it is a bit curious.

Damn, go figure. I wonder if this is worth pursuing. I'm not going to have any success with the dealer. May need to contact corporate. Maybe if I get bored, I'll get back on it.

You might try another dealer if you have an alternate one close by.

I just got off the phone with Mercedes USA. Version 10 should be at the Dealerships in a couple weeks. They send them to the parts dept. Mercedes said I am allowed 2 updates per year for the 3 years. That is encouraging.

Took my wife's 2016 GLC300 in for the first service (3800 miles) today and requested a map update. SA wrote it down on the order. Also received an email from the dealer to bring the car in for a map update (this could be just the mass email) couple of weeks ago.

Picked up the car and the map was not updated, it stated that I have the latest version 2016 V7.

The SA called the tech who reiterated that 2016 V7 is the latest.

My dealer is Rusnak in Arcadia, California.

Have you confirmed that V10 is now available for update?

My SA said MB usually releases the update once a year in November!

Mixed information all over the place.

Has anyone received an updat later than V7 in the US?

On my glc 300 purchased in May, I just had my windows replaced with acoustic glass due to wind noise under warranty. It took 4 months to get the parts. While doing the doors I asked the dealer to update my nav map from version 9 to version 10.All completed to satisfaction.

I'm not trying to hijack this thread...I realize it's about map updates. But since you mentioned getting the Acoustic Glass under warranty (and I realize there are threads about this too), did the dealer say MB would replace the front door glass if it was just too noisy? Do you like it?

I was going to PM you but I figured everyone would be interested in hearing how you got the coveted Acoustic Glass!

It is (unfortunately) not uncommon that the factory installs a newest version, while this same new version is not yet available at dealerships for updating older versions in previously delivered cars;

I experienced this myself in EU: in a forum is stated that new cars are delivered with a new COMAND version, which was not available to the dealership (yet) several weeks later.

Also, it is not uncommon that a certain version number is skipped; e.g. version 9.0 can be the first new version after 7.0.

Sorry to reply off topic, but in response to Vaboy's question I said the wind noise was extreme on both windows, quoted the Mercedes-Benz Service Bulletin # L172.10-P-062500 regarding wind noise and acoustic glass and they agreed without question under warranty. Haven't driven enough to know if it's improved the wind noise. I will follow up on that later.

More Hijacking: I also just had both front door windows replaced with acoustic glass referencing the above service bulletin. My windshield came with acoustical glass. It took 2 months to get the new door glass in. I've only driven with the new glass in for about 100 miles, but the reduction in wind noise is significant. Other people I've had in the car before the glass was replaced didn't seem to notice the noise, but I did.
