Bumper Sill Opinion

What do you guys think about this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stainless-st...3D322379417488

It will give the GLC some sophisticated feel of GLK. What do you guys think? BTW my GLC is cardinal red.

I have one of those on my GLC. Fits good, looks good, so far so good after almost a year.

Highly recommend it if you like the look.

I had something similar on a Nissan SUV a few years back. I got it primarily to protect the bumper from getting scratched. We had a rather elderly Labrador at the time and she used to catch the bumper with her claws getting in and out. It was a worthwhile purchase.

I had XPEL put on the area. I'd had the same protection on my E550. Works great no looks great too.

Me too. Invisible protection. Best solution of all.

I thought of the SS shield, but thought that it would break the clean lines (my GLC is white). I have gone on the XPEL website and see that there are DIY kits. Anyone used these for the trunk/cargo area?

I had the top of my rear bumper covered at the same time the shop was doing the front fenders, headlights, hood, front end and mirrors.

Matter of fact the shop owner and I were standing near the rear of the vehicle with the tail gate open and almost as an afterthought he asked if I wanted the bumper covered. Ahh, yea. No brainer.

One has to look very closely to see the Xpel is there.

Due to the endless rain in bay area, the roads are ruined. My car already got 2 paint chips on the hood.

Do you think it is still worthwhile to do Xpel? Is the self-installed TracWrap any good?

Sure. Have the chips repaired. Then get Xpel applied.

The most important aspect of Xpel is finding a competent installer.

TracWrap is not the long term answer to paint protection. Meant to install before going to the track and removing after returning from the track.

I had a local XPEL installer do mine. Total cost was $50.

How much did you pay for the Xpel film itself?

Which areas of the car do you have covered?

I even got chips on far top of A-pillar above driver and passengers. Did you have those areas covered as well?

Called around for quote for Xpel for full front application. All said $1800.

What was your secret of getting it for $50?

How come those of us in the bay area are getting screwed so badly....

I'm pretty sure he's just talking about the bumper sill.

There is no way you can get the whole front end for $50.

You can look up the price and get an idea of what the kit would cost - the rest is labor.

I live in Tucson - moved here from Philly 18 months ago. I've learned that many services cost less.

I had them install the film on the top of the bumper sill and wrap it down an inch. It's totally transparent until you look closely.
