2018 GLC 300, handsfree 868 package question
Hi, first post here.
My wife is strongly considering a 2018 GLC 300 and some of the ones we see are well equipped but do not have the carplay option. I have the following questions.
1. can it be enabled if it didn't come from the factory, not sure if it's a cable and unlocking or something else
2. if the answer to question 1 is yes, are there limitations or can it be done on any 2018
3. has anyone successfully done it on a 2018 model GLC

If you have the 320 - Multimedia package (which is necessary for 997 - Premium Driver Assist), it will conflict with 868 - Smartphone Integration. That's usually the issue.
It does require hardware, it's not just a software unlock.
If the car you're looking at doesn't have Multimedia (COMAND Navigation), it may be possible (?) to add it on afterwards should check w/ your dealer.
If not, p[ople in the C300 forum have done aftermarket replacements of their head unit and gotten Carplay working. Very expensive route though.
