2018 GLC 300 w/Parking Assist Windshield Replacement Costs?
Hi,
I was wondering how much does dealer charge for front Windshield replacement?
My vehicle has Park assist. Something flew off of a vehicle in front of me and couldn't dodge the object.
Since vehicle is a lease need to go with OEM

Highly unlikely the dealer would replace your windscreen. My experience is they will farm it out to an automobile glass shop.
Are you positive that your lease requires only M-B supplied replacment parts?

Ask the dealer for to refer you to a glass installer. I had that on my last car and I got original glass from Mercedes. Also, glass should be covered by your insurance.. As a side note, you may want to ask your insurance broker about a "car replacement policy". Not sure

Also the dealer has a third party that inspects lease returns where it has to be in OEM condition and can be a stickler for any thing.
My broker got our auto insurance through Safeco, not sure if this would qualify as a car replacement.

Wow, that's one doozie of a dealer you have there. Either way, you can get a quote (or two if the dealer has to do the calibrations) and your insurance company will cut you a check. On my last car I had a rock come through the glass roof and since you never know when it will rain, I did not feel like taking the car out of the garage until fixed, so the insurance company picked up the car rental tab.
The car replacement thing is an insurance add-on most people miss. A comprehensive policy covers the depreciated value of the car. A replacement policy gets you a new car of the same spec. Subtle but significant difference. Has nothing to do with glass as such, that should be covered by the comprehensive policy. Should you for some reason or other total the car, a comprehensive policy may not be enough to cover your lease contract. Ask your broker.
From what I understand, is because the sensors in the front window behind the mirror it has be be recalibrated via dealer or authorized party. The dealer won’t do insurance claims(third party payment)

When the wifes purse was stolen with the MB key fob in it, our dealer did take the third party, insurance check, for rekeying and reprogramming the the entire security system on the car. Over $2,000. Auto Club of S. Ca. dealt directly with the dealer. We never even saw the check.

Actually - takes a full day - preferably a overnite - for the windshield adhesive to "set".
!st couple of days crack a side window or sunroof - so that way the Climate Control doesn't build up cabin pressure - that way the pressure on the windshield "exterior-in" at highway speed - let's the adhesive "set beeter"

I've had several windshields replaced over the years, and the installers always gave the same advice as @fabbrisd1 : crack the windows. However, the reason given wasn't for a buildup of pressure at speed. Rather, it was to avoid the sudden pressurization from the inside that comes with closing the doors on a sealed cabin. Either way, the advice itself is sound.
