Maintenance issues?
New member here and the 2020 GLC 300 4matic is at the top of my new car list. I plan on keeping it for the next 7-10 years. Based on my current driving I do about 8,000 to 10,000 miles per year. All that my Rav4 has required for the past 10 years has been general stuff(oil, brake pads, routers, tires…). No major issues. I know that this car is much more complicated so what should I look out for? For those of you who have had your cars for a while what maintenance issues have you run into? Is this a car that I can keep for 7-10 years? Also if this topic has been asked and answered I apologize.
Thank you for your help.
Maintenance by a dealer is equivalent to hooking a vacuum cleaner to your wallet so avoid if you can and go with a reputable indy or DIY (my personal preference). Once out of warranty, spare parts can be at cardiac arrest levels.
Having said that, I still get a "sense of occasion" getting into my GLC after 3 yrs and the car is a dream to drive. A close look at the quality of materials and assembly puts a smile on my face. Fingers crossed that some major issue doesn't wipe the smile off..

As a very high mileage driver, I am at the opposite end of the spectrum. My 2017 GLC has over 110,000 miles on it now and I've posted about some of my experiences along the way,

Of course this is only one driver's experience with one GLC but I've really taken to heart the common wisdom which is to never let one of these cars get off warranty. You can extend the original warranty to, effectively, 5 years and unlimited miles, and save yourself some money, by buying CPO, and get two more years, again unlimited miles, by buying the extended warranty. I have had over $5000 worth of repairs done on mine so far, at no cost to me, since the new car warranty expired at 50,000 miles. I can't wait to see what the next 100,000 miles will bring.
Agree that nothing about the RAV4 is comparable with the GLC.
Agree that a luxury German vehicle is more expensive to own and maintain than a mass produced Japanese vehicle.
Take care of the basics (oil, tires, brakes, cleaning), and the rest will make itself apparent.
