2020 Spare on 2016-19 GLC. Yes or No.

Hello All,
Looks like Mb finally providing an optional spare tire for 2020 GLC just for $200.
Wondering if it can be used on 16-19 GLCs?

Could you share the part number, link to the spare so we can look it up?

Thanks!

I also emailed my dealer and will post when a reply is received. To me it looks as if the upholstered cover panels over the metal subfloor are eliminated, at least in part, when a spare tire is installed. If so, on earlier GLCs these panels will have to be removed (partially?) to accommodate the spare so as to avoid interference with closing the hatch. I suppose a tool kit is part of the spare tire package but may have to be ordered separately.

I ordered the spare tire option on my 2020. It comes with jack, tools, bolts, etc., at least when ordered built with the option. You are correct, other than the "carrier" for the tire, the space under the floor is stripped down to sheet metal. There is no storage tray as on those without the spare. Not sure what you will need to remove, if anything on an earlier model.

I explored purchasing this spare for my 2017 GLC300 through the dealer parts department but the wheel, tire and lug bolts were priced at $600 without the jack. At that price I dropped the idea!

Here is the answer I got from parts department.

“The spare wheel as a replacement/spare part is currently on backorder with Mercedes-Benz. They are only supplying them right now for factory MY2020 new vehicle builds with that option.

Once they become open for dealer ordering as a spare part, price on the wheel is $434.00 and then the price for the appropriate spare tire to fit is $173.00. As a spare part, MB does not offer a tire/wheel pre-mounted option.“

For that much money I would rather go for the full size wheel!

i hate to say it, but i think i would pay $600 to have spare, provided it fits neatly underneath
no doubt the price is crazy, but one use and the headache it eliminated is well worth it

Part Numbers for Spare Tire?

Hi, Do you happen to have part numbers for the wheel and tire? I was thinking about trading my 2016 in for a 2020 just for the spare tire, my wife's GLC has less than 9,000 miles. I want the comfort of having a spare tire. Paying $600 for a spare is a much better deal than trading in my wife's car.
I am wondering how it will fit and what needs to be removed (storage tray?).

Thanks,

MP

I'm afraid it won't fit perfectly, I took my existing wheel diameter and just tried to see how it can fit,
there is a fuse box which is sticks out so bad. I have 2018 GLC

Here is my plan to fight missing spare tire:
Vehicle Tool Kit 166-580-69-00 - $91.00
Universal Tire Repair Kit to Fix Punctures and Plug Flats - $15.00 Universal Tire Repair Kit to Fix Punctures and Plug Flats - $15.00

not a best solution, but it's better looking. Understand not the best for women, but I'm planning to have winter/summer sets,
so worst case I will have to bring one whole wheel.
