I would like to buy and install an illuminated Star in my son's GLC 300 Coupe.
Would anyone have the part numbers for the Star as well as the wiring harness? I am having a hard time finding anything that I confident is correct, and I am reluctant calling my dealer and asking them since I would feel guilty if I did that but not purchase from them. I would guess I might save a couple bucks finding online.
Also, not sure which fuse location numbers to use. All related posts on this forum refer to other years/models and they seem to be different than my son's.
lights up when you remotely lock/unlock the vehicle or open the door or tailgate. Only functions when engine is switched off.
not what I am looking for.
The star is usually fed off the running lights circuit, these lights always come on briefly when you unlock or lock the car, but of course the star will be lit anytime the running lights are on whether the vehicle is running or not. Utube has a lot of videos showing how to install these star lights, these instructive videos are done by both dealerships and owners.
all of the videos show different car models or they are tapping into existing lighting wire. I do not want to do that. I want to do it exactly like the dealership would do it. This would mean I need to know where they run the ground to (probably the negative charging post) and what fuse location number to tap into in the fuse compartment under the hood - this is the part I am trying to find out. It seems to be different on most every body style. Specifically, I am trying to find it for the 2019 GLC 300 Coupe. A pic of the location would even be better. In fact, a copy of the procedure to do the whole job would be awesome!!! Something like this...
Hi All, I'm getting one for Christmas. I've researched fitting and found under bonnet(hood) R/H fuse box you can Piggy Back onto 15A fuse #115 (Horn), this needs an ignition supply. Alternate if #105 is not being used, run a cable from outlet side of fuse point. a 5A fuse is enough for either way. Fuse 105 if in use is an ECU feed, and might have a trace voltage present (approx 1 volt) check first.
linus69, Thanks for your post with Illuminated Star fitting ideas.I got one for Christmas, and is now fitted and lit with ignition 'ON' Really looks the part.
