My 2020 GLC dealership experience
I knew that I wanted a 2020 because of the MBUX system. None of the cars that were in inventory in the greater Los Angeles area had all of the options that I wanted; therefore, I specially ordered my own build. I did this back in late October, 2019. The sales person estimated that the car would be at the dealership sometime in the middle of January, 2020. At the time of ordering, I didn't know whether or not I was going to purchase the car or lease. I have never leased a car before and had lots of questions. However, whether purchasing or leasing, I knew enough that my negotiations started with negotiating the purchase price/capitalized cost of the car. At the time or ordering, I told the sales person that my expectations were a 10% discount off of MSRP. He said that was probably doable but that we needed to wait until the car actually arrived at the dealership.
Well, the car got to the dealership with 3 days left in December. I was happy about that because I believe getting a new car at the end of the year is the best time to negotiate. Well, I have to say this was the easiest negotiation I ever experienced. I had updated my research and decided that 11% was the discount I wanted. This was based upon the website TrueCar. The sales person didn't blink; although, my wife wanted a 12% discount. We did get an 11% discount off of MSRP. So, MSRP was 56,080 and the actual price to me was 49,911. For a variety of reasons, none of which I want to get into right now, we decided to lease the car for 3 years.
This is where it got a little manic......we were escorted into the finance department. What I am going to say I don't say flippantly......the finance guy was a DICK. He talked way too fast and both my wife and I had the feeling that he was insulted every time we asked a question. But, I was not going to let this guy confuse me or rush me with any part of this transaction. I know that he was getting frustrated because all he wanted to do was get us in, sign the papers, talk us into buying more stuff, and getting us out. I would have none of that; although my wife was ready to walk out without closing the deal.
I will have to say that it was my fault for allowing my wife's expectations to not be met. This was due to my inexperience in leasing a car. I did not calculate what the interest portion of the transaction would be correctly. But, after the finance guy explained it to me, I was ok. My wife, however.....not so much...but, she knew I wanted this car, I knew we got a good price and I knew that, at the end of the day, the calculation of the monthly payment was correct.
We are now both VERY happy with the car. Following are the details:
Mojave Silver
AMG line with 19" run flats
Night Package
Multimedia Package
Exterior Light Package
Panorama Roof
Chrome door handle inserts
AMG leather
Top-stitched MB-tex upper dash and door trim
Ventilated front seats
Premium package
12.3 inch digital instrument panel
Burmeister sound system
Driver assistance package
My wife and I both LOVE the Mojave Silver color...it is sort of like a pewter color with black leather interior. The Night Package, in my opinion, really brings it all together. I have never owned an SUV type car before, so this is a different ride for me. But, because my previous car was over 10 years old, I REALLY appreciate all of the new technology. The MB Connect App seems to work the way it is supposed to work; although, I am still playing around with it.
Anyways, as I said, other than the finance department part of the transaction, this was the easiest new car transaction that I have ever experienced. Because I had over 100,000 miles on my car, I thought it easier to just trade it in rather than going to CarMax. I don't think CarMax would have given me much more for the car, and it would have been kind of a hassle to drive to CarMax and then Uber back to the dealership. By the way, my sales person was Steve Leeisaranukul at the Simonson dealership in Santa Monica, California. If you are considering a new car, I would recommend Steve without any hesitation. He was both fair and kept to his word.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
And thanks for sharing your buying experience!
I noticed you didn't get the parking assistance package.
Without it do you just get a plain backup camera without the surround view?
Does it come with front sensors if you don't get the parking package.
Thanks
Adding Parking Assist package and deleting the Pano roof and Driver Assist package.
Also getting a few add-ons like wireless charging, heated steering wheel, and insulated glass
