GLC Augmented Navigation

For those with a 2020 GLC and the navigation feature— would you pay for this feature again?

initally the augmented reality was interesting, but like most navigation systems it’s a bit layered to use and not as accurate as google— so in the end I just use google. It works and is only a few screen taps away.

not sure if Mercedes should keep investing in their own navigation software because the gimmicks don’t last

if the navigation wasn’t required for the distronic I wouldn’t recommend anyone pay extra for it

You mean on Android Auto? If it were a wireless connection I'd probably use it more, but with the wired one I prefer using the built-in nav. Oh, and the augmented navigation thing is not available in my region.

I have it on my GLE and no, I wouldn't. While the AR is really sweet, their maps are 2 years behind, the routing is often poor, and major landmark entrances are mapped incorrectly. Also using Google Maps via CarPlay

The Augmented reality is neat. That is all. Navigation is TERRIBLE.

I was using Waze through CarPlay, but I am now trying "Magic Earth" which works on the Home Screen on CarPlay like Apple Maps does. So far, a way better plan.
CarPlay2Air is working on a wireless adapter for the 2020 - which will then make it that much better.

How do you know that Carplay2Air is working on their wireless adapter for the 2020? I sent them an email the other day asking them about that too, but I’m still waiting on their response. It would be sooo good if they get one that works!

I do not know if it is working. I said "CarPlay2Air is working on a wireless adapter for the 2020". They don't have it yet.

My Nephew uses the product on his Ford and it works flawlessly. I will order it the moment they say it is available / ready. They do offer free software updates.

So anyone have good luck on the CPlay2Air working on GLC? I am planning to get one as well. Also saw other brands of wireless Carplay Adaptor called Carlinkit, and Karplayer which look very similar to the CPlay2Air. Any one knows the difference?

Carplay2Air does not work on those car with USB-C yet. I asked them a while back and they said they were working on a product that would work.

If you find any other alternatives that work, please let me know!

It was a 300chf option, which is not too bad. However the navigation itself is disappointing. Still, I am too lazy to buy the right cable for my iphone, so I end up using the builtin nav and the AR.

Don’t think so my friend. I think the internals of the current CPlay2Air need to be modified.

NAV

I have the augmented nav on my 2020 GLC and it’s pretty good. Shows live views with street addresses while driving. Lists next upcoming cross street banner at top of screen. It’s really good at night too, can see surrounding area better than looking out the window. Compared to Audi nav much better- that used google map. Would definitely recommend. Using phone with CarPlay will not give the full screen view.

Finally tried the unit. My friend bought and lent me the Carlinkit which is the same as CPlay2Air adapter but doesn't work on my Mercedes GLC200 (works on his Volvo XC60 though). So I searched and bought ViseeO Play2air which works but it is a lot more expansive because this brand mainly makes audio/handsfree upgrade solution for high end cars such as Mercedes, Audi, and BMW (my friend has used their Tune2Air Airplay upgrade before). The unit is a lot smaller compare to the Carlinkit unit and a lot more elegant (it uses Aluminum housing). Setup is easy simply use Bluetooth to connect and the reconnection is really fast as soon as the head unit is turned on the connection is in process. Really enjoy it!!! Once you use wireless carplay there is no turning back!!!

I had an old ViseeO Tune2Air for my old E Class. It created a connection with the MB on Bluetooth that gave you full control as though you were plugged in. It was a great unit.
I am currently using the CPlay2air unit, but it is painfully slow to connect.

I went to the ViseeO site - but their new "play2air" is not on Amazon through their "Shop" menu, and the"Shop" button doesn't work. How much did you pay - and where did you buy?

Thanks for posting that Eric. The onboard NAV is not as good as using Google Maps or Waze through CarPlay - and the MB web portal map updates have been screwy lately due to their changes.

Out of curiosity any idea how much approximately this costs? (~ $349.00)

Absolutely buy again

Purchased navigation with my 2018 GLC300 and used it for 2 long (cross country) trips. Found it to be accurate and extremely useful/accurate in routing me around Interstate backups due to accidents. Much better than previous Toyota navigation. Just purchased 2021 GLC300w and navigation was a must have. Within 2 days of purchase it automatically updated regional map via OTA. Downloading the rest of the map regions and voice software update was easy ( took an hour to load memory stick and an hour to load into car). The 12.3 screen makes for an easy to see display and MBUX works well. It is ialso nteresting that the new car also supports Android auto so I can always use Google maps etc if I desire. Count me in as a devotee.

I bought it directly from their Website...through the "shop now" button on Play2Air product's introduction page. Have you tried again? I think it is working now. The price is USD$349 include international shipment. I also found it on Amazon US which is also USD$349 but I need to pay extra for the shipment so I just bought them from the Website instead. When you talk about the slow connection speed do you mean the re-connection every time? The 1st time setup does take sometime to complete ( a few minutes) but after that the re-connection is reasonably fast, around 20 seconds from after the Mercedes logo disappear after booting.

thanks. I contacted the site and so they fixed it!

My CPlay2Air is working better now following an update. I will try it for a little longer - but thanks for posting as I would have tried them first if I saw it, and will try them info get frustrated with this.

C2Play2Air works perfectly on my GLC 2018. Seamless connection. Free upgrades too. And it is neatly hidden in the center console box.
