GLC300 media display black out?
Mine is 2020 glc300, and I got it about 2 months ago.
Today on the way back home from work, I turned off the engine to pick up some parcels, and when I turned on the engine again, I realized media display screen was total black. R gear didn't even give me the rear view.
I pushed power button next to touchpad, nothing.
And I pushed power button for ~ 1 min, nothing happened. Turned on and off the engine multiple times, still nothing came back.
Usually I can just take it right to the service center, but I am currently in remote area for work. The nearesr service center is 2 hours away.
So, I am just wondering there is anyone who can help me here??
Thank you in advance!

This has happened to us on a few occasions as well. Usually turning off the car and starting it again seems to reset it. It is a bit disconcerting and I can't repeat it so it seems unlikely to be observed by a technician. Have not had it in to have them check; waiting until I need service and will inquire then. But, just responding to let you know that you are not alone and for me, anyway, it does correct itself and happens only very infrequently.

Thank you!
it came back the next morning. I tried to turn on and off on the day it happened, but stayed the same. Guess mine takes longer than yours...haha..
And it happened again today. First it didn't respond to my touch, then it went black. Well, I am just calling the service department today and see what they say.
thanks again!

Good luck and keep us posted on anything you find out. Our system does not have a touch screen (I guess the 2020 version does?), but otherwise it seems our issue is basically the same. I've wondered whether it has to do with over the air updates it does to radio stations or something else, but really haven't found a connection there either. Hope they can figure it out for you

Ok this is kinda update info.
1. They updated software, and customer service rep said it was working fine when she checked it earlier. When I turned the engine on, still black on command screen. So they kept the car to run more tests.
2. They ordered control unit and installed it. Again, she said it was working fine when she checked it on the day before and on the day. When I turned the engine on, still nothing. They took the car back and ran some tests and gave me the loaner car because they would like to do more tests (that was yesterday)
3. today, I called them asking for updates. She said all the wirings look good, and looks like command screen itself is the problem, so she needs to order the screen. But, currently it is now on backorder (really?!)
Good thing is that the command screen got blacked out while I was still in the dealership and the service dept manager saw it each time.
But, truly, I am kinda getting annoyed a little now. They had 2 chances to do multiple tests. But, well, everyone has excuses, I guess.
If they can fix it this time, good. If they can't, I don't know...
I'll let you know later how it goes. Hopefully it will be resolved by September

Yea, I had to visit twice or three times to get the jobs done since they didn't change everything at the first time.
Hope your friend's problem doesn't need this much extensive repair. Good luck

I had a similar issue where my MBUX would say "turn on engine to avoid shutting down" while I was driving. It would then flicker on and off and then turn off. Turning the car off and opening the door then closing it would resolve it. I took it to the dealer and software resolved it. Hopefully a software fix can be done to minimize downtime for your friend.

Thank you very much for this information. I’ll inform him of this also, it would be fantastic if it was as easy to fix as a software issue because if not it seems like a full overhaul.
thanks so much
