Fuel Door Discovery
So Wednesday, my wife comes home from work and informs me that the CEL is ON. So yesterday, Thursday, I used it as a teaching moment for my son. We grabbed the code reader, unlocked/opened our 2019 GLC300, connected the reader, downloaded the code(s), and sure enough "Fuel System EVAP Leak (Small)." I looked at the fuel gauge, sure enough, my wife refilled the car the day before. SO, I had my son go reset the gas cap and delete the code. "DAD, the fuel door won't open." I go back out, and sure enough, it wouldn't open. About a hour later, I take the car to grab some dinner stuff from Dollar General (YES, I'm plugging them, I use to work for them.), and I tapped the fuel door (after I unlocked the vehicle). YUUPPP, it popped open. So I closed it, locked the car, and wouldn't open again. I unlocked the car, and it opened.

I’m not sure anybody cares, but my impression is that if the car is unlocked, the fuel door is unlocked. If car is locked, then the fuel door is locked. As sophisticated as these cars are now, I believe this function is pretty straightforward.

Yes, you’re correct. Although the key fob was in his hand, if the doors remained locked, so would the fuel cap door. Maybe I’m not quite understanding something here, but it seems rather clear to me.

yeah, I believe you are right. Nice to know mb did that. Some brands don't do that

And that’s why MB is what they are—-the best ever. I simply love the entire Brand. Let the BMW folks keep their rides, and the Lexus folks say whatever they wish. But as for me, it is still the best, or nothing at all.

I think MB learned their lesson after 2014 to build good looking and smart boxes on wheels. That's a compliment, coming from a guy who has owned : an E46, 2 E92 M3s, F24 M2, Mini Hardtop -> All bavarian products. However, I am transitioning to MBs because BMWs are now "The Crap Driving Machine".
