Can anyone tell me:

What MBUX software has been installed in my 2020 GLC
My understanding is that Mercedes will periodically push out an over the air update to the MBUX system. As an owner, how do I know when this is done? Does anyone know if an over the air update has been pushed out since the beginning of 2020?

Thank you

Bob

My 2020 GLC300 build was delivered in Dec. I checked the map updates the other day and the last one shows as Feb. Below is how to download updates. It says to get updates using your PC and install yourself. It is the way to go. Believe Mercedes Me and your screen will alert you about updates. To tell you the truth I don't remember any alert for the Feb map update.

The theory is that 2019+ COMAND 5.5 and MBUX will receive future OTA system updates. Both use the new Mercedes Me connect platform. At least the platform support is there, but as far as I know this hasn't been fully rolled out on MB's end yet, so you probably need to bring your car to a dealership to get the latest firmware for MBUX. The OTA channel so far appears to be only used for map updates which come out about every 6 months. The 2020 map update just came out the other day, at least for COMAND 5.5. Also, at least for COMAND, only one's home region gets automatically updated via OTA. The home region can be configured in the Mercedes Me connect portal. The portal also shows which software updates are pending or have been successfully pushed to the car along with the installation status. I've received three OTA map updates so far for my 2019 C63S Coupe. They automatically start downloading in the background if the automatic update option is enabled in the settings and then install. Once installed a message pops up on the screen letting me know that a new map update has been installed. I would expect the same experience for firmware updates once they are being pushed out over OTA. The map regions other than the home region have to be manually downloaded from the portal to an SD card or USB stick and then when inserted in the car the update is automatically detected and a prompt will ask if you want to install it. In case of COMAND, there are also updates to the voice recognition that come out at the same time as the map updates. Those also need to be manually installed. They are not being pushed via OTA yet. I'm now running the latest 2020 maps and was driving on a stretch of Interstate with new express lanes on Saturday. It now advises me when I can enter the express lanes and when to leave them again. Pretty cool I must say. I haven't seen this before. I can only assume MBUX gets at least the same capabilities.

The software version for my 2020 GLC is apilevel/ntg6_fup2/063. It has been on this version since day 1. Sep 2019. So far, no change.
However, some maps got updated on Feb, 2020 automatically over air.

Does anyone get software version updated and newer than mine?

Mine is the same (had the car since Aus launch in October) but I've had config changes of some sort pushed automatically as there were a few settings that were not working that then disappeared from the dash entirely. This occurred overnight while I was in the middle of discussions with my dealer about why the Auto Adjust seat settings weren't working and then the option disappeared from both the car and the MercedesMe website.

The latest version is apilevel/ntg6/080. It just came out within the past few weeks, but unfortunately you have to have a dealer perform the update.
So far, there have been no MBUX OTA updates.

Looks like the new version can toggle off the Traffic Light View?

It is a bit annoying feature couldn’t turn off.

I have an appointment for the update to apilevel/ntg6/080 this coming Thursday. Searching the net can only fine talk about the S-Class and the nothing concrete on what will change with my 2020 GLC.

Did they confirm the update is available in the US?

Yes he did. Gave the update numbered to the SA. He looked it up on his PC and asked what day would I like to come. Said it’s done over the net and could take an hour or all day depending on the connection.

Report back next week.

MBUX Update - apilevel/ntg6/080
Had my update yesterday. The system now reads the 080 update. I asked what changes were in the update. The SA really couldn't tell me. So, I have attached the invoice printout. The SA wrote the order up as "MBUX is slow ". I asked to perform the MBUX update. Be aware it resets the whole system back to factory. So write down things like the radio stations, navigation points, etc.

Just review the build in Mercedes website, such software update is included lifetime, though map update is 3 year only for free.

I wonder anyone got update after 3 yr from Mercedes for other year or model

For cars under warranty, they will do the updates, but once out of warranty you will likely be charged. My dealer charged me an hour of labor for a much older vehicle (2009 SL) that needed a software update that was never installed to be able to read >4GB SD memory cards.

The unlimited license here is IF (and that is a big IF), they ever can follow through with their marketing literature and do these over the air...

Think it’s more like a “bug” fix. You can see from the invoice there was nothing major. The biggest thing is that just about everything has to be reset. For instance I locked the car and discovered that the mirrors which beeped and folded before the update had to be reset.

Is the store added to the “Mercedes Me” section? And can it control the roller blind now?

Not in the US. I took my car to the dealership with the excuse that MBUX was running slow, and they did the update. Nothing new, that I noticed. Worst part is putting back all setting to what I had before the update...
