Hello Guys,

Had anyone luck in installing the illuminated star on a 2020 GLC? I'm in search for it and so far no one have the one that is mirror like and for 2020. Further, search over YouTube and on web to see how the star is removed of the front grill on a 2020 but couldn't find any.

Appreciate your help guys in sharing links for the stars and guidance on how to replace.

I dont think they have it. Also, even if they do it will be a rip off

I've seen some dealers quote $600 for the install, or you can try it DIY. However, you cannot have it if you have distronic plus.

I want to DIY but the problem is that I want to know if any have tried before and what they used. That why is my post here.

$600 is cheap, let the dealer do it. How much is your time worth?

there are threads all over the place for it.. ive seen it here in the ML, GLE, GL, GLS, GLC, E, C class cars. Plenty of threads with DIY instructions

I dont have distronic but have the active brake assist.

Sure. But these are the ones I have now. Tomorrow or after I'll get my car from dealership and will post better pictures

nice looking car. You have the glossy star on your hood so I don’t think the illuminated star would work. You’d have to replace the star altogether

A bit of off topic here. I see you have chrome strip on the foglight. Is it OEM or aftermarket? I see only the GLC43, GLE with sport package, and GLS with sport package have it. The lower class like the GLC300 doesn't have it with sport package. I see aftermarket strip is available but don't like the whole strip chrome. OEM ones only have chrome strip on the edge which brings me another question. Is the OEM chrome strip an actual part that MB offer? Is there any part number? Below is the OEM chrome strip on a GLE..

thanks. I dont think just because it is the glossy star i won't work. I saw in Ali Express glossy star replacement. My only concern that it didn't mention 2020 and that i have the brace active assist.

it is one of the aftermarket mods that I did to the car. It is a full chrome piece and not same as the one on GLE. Nonetheless it looks original and nice that even the dealer thought it was custom ordered.

not sure i understood you. Mine doesn't have the distronic functionality but have something called active brake assist. No front camera as well.

$600 would be cheap. If in fact that's the right number.

you may have a camera behind the star for the active brake assist, thats why its glossy. If i were you, on a facelifted 2020 model, i would definitely seek out the $600 for the illuminated star install. Since your not in the US, i dont know if that exists there.

Your brake assist sensors are (at least in US) in your front fascia in the bottom between those two "strips".

just got my car from the dealer. I asked the engineer about the star and he said he will ask for me but it require a lot of work. He mentioned that it is either always illuminated with car on, or only when lock unlock. Will await his feedback before I do anything.

Thanks for the reply. When you have a moment, can you take a closeup shot of the chrome strip in different angle?

I am sure that OEM chrome strip is not unique to GLE and GLS. GLC43 has it too. It might be wider on the GLE and GLS but not sure.. if the car has black package, it is blackout instead of chrome.
