Question Any word on an upcoming full-cycle refresh?

Wondering if any info is available on a potential full-cycle update of the GLC? Sales reps say they have no info, "maybe in 2022".
I have 2 older GLCs in my extended family ready to upgrade, and they were looking for a large-screen MBUX which none of the current GLCs have.

Some news outlets said “We don’t expect Mercedes to reveal the next-gen GLC until at least a year from now in late 2021 or early 2022.” And it might do the dual screens or something similar to the new S-Class setup.

Mercedes usually follow the rule of "4 years faclift and 8 years redesign". Since they just did facelift for MY2020 in 2019 fall, I guess the next re-design will be on market in 2023 fall for MY2024. The information may come out as early as 2022.
Anyhow, as mentioned above, the next setup probably will follow the new s-claas. So the dual screen setup like in the GLE is unlikely to appear in GLC.

I can confirm MY22 for the W206 C-class, with orders opening up somewhere around June next year (I will be replacing my current W205 with the 206).

I would anticipate a Fall/early Winter '21/'22 debut of the MY23 GLC, likely available for order early '22--this follows the current gen GLC launch in relation to the C-class.

I'm not seeing a "rule of "4 years facelift and 8 years redesign". It's an average of 7 years. US Model Years:

W205 C-Class - 2008 to 2014 - 7 Years
W205 C-Class - 2015 to 2021 - 7 Years
W210 E-Class - 1996 to 2002 - 7 Years
W211 E-Class - 2003 to 2009 - 7 Years
W212 E-Class - 2010 to 2016 - 7 years
W213 E-Class - 2017 to 2023 - 7 Years
W221 S-Class - 2008 to 2013 - 7 Years
W222 S-Class - 2014 to 2020 - 7 Years

Yep, its a 7 year cycle with a mid refresh somewhere around year 3 or 4.

yea, looks like it is sorry for the wrong info.

And still next gen GLC would be one year after the redesign c-clazs.

Yes, I can see how it would make sense that they go directly with the s-class dashboard setup on the next GLC.

Correct me if I'm wrong. The X253 GLC started in 2016, got a refresh for MY20. The W205 C started in 2014/2015 and ended 2021. So the '21 E class and S class stuff will be in the new C class in 2022, and then in 2022/23, the new GLC will come out and share its parts with the cars listed before.

However, the '21 E class still has the dual screens, like every other MB save for the new S class.

reviving this thread because I've ordered a 2022 GLC300 and it certainly looks "re-refreshed" over the 2020 facelift. is a second facelift unprecedented??

Be specific. Looks "re-refreshed" over the 2020 facelift in what way?

MY22 for the North American market had no MAJOR changes over MY21...or MY20 for that matter.

All-new model will allegedly arrive for MY23.

in ANOTHER THREAD about the aftermarket Panamerica Grille KCSam has posted before/after pics of his 2020 "SUV" (I call it the "wagon back"). My 2022 Coupe gets built next week and I haven't yet seen one in person yet but the image I'm shown with my build at MBUSA sure looks like a different grille shape to me, enough that I'm holding off buying the same grille he bought (THIS ONE).

2022 Coupe from my MBUSA build:

KCSam's 2020 "before" pic:

Doesn't the 2022 look more "A-shaped" vs. the "V-shape" (or "U-shape") of KCSam's?

One is an AMG-line grille, the other is the standard grille (with some modifications). It has nothing to do with MY.

Is it not just the difference between a GLC SUV grille and a GLC Coupe grille?

No. The front ends are *essentially* identical between standard SUV and SUV coupe. AMG-line (US market) gets the diamond pin grille on both standard SUV and SUV coupe. Diamond pin grille changes the shape of the grille, as eddieo45 has noticed.

GLC SUV standard grille - two lamella, per KCSam's grille

GLC Coupe SUV standard grille - one lamella

Thanks Grant, it did start to occur to me that maybe the $2700 I paid for DG3 AMG Line got me a different bumper and therefore grille shape. I need to order the eBay grille "with AMG Package" to get the right one. The eBay model compatibility tool (and vehicle garage, for that matter) evidently haven't caught up to 2022s being delivered....

Hey Grant, I've been meaning to comment on your use of the term "lamella"; I've seen them referred to as "fins" and "blades" but never lamella. I like it!

You seem very knowledgeable about the various grilles; I wonder if you know whether the OEM grille from the GLC43 AMG will fit my soon-to-arrive GLC300 w/ AMG Package? If so, it would seem a smarter purchase than a $200 Chinese knockoff.....
