Delivery time for GLC ordered early 2021

Curious what people are hearing about lead times for GLC ordered now? I am hearing production date first week of March may be possible... heading to the dealer to finalize order tonight.

The waiting period is longer when you order. Isn't there one at the dealer that has all/most of your list?

Actually there was no car in the USA that had what I wanted. Only a few cars with Driver’s Assistance package... but all were close to $60k. My build was $51290.

Ordered 2020 GLC43 in July, MB cancelled 'cause of Corona Virus and plant shut down in Germany, reordered 2021 in late October, received car December 29th.

Similar to my story but there was one car in the US with most of the features I wanted. Had to compromise the Intelligent LEDs for statics.

60 Days to west coast, that is fast. I was quoted 100 days +
We'll see what happens...

100+ days sounds bad, but since you have another car it should be fine. 4 months to go then!

Well the car isn't here yet... I know, another couple months. Turns out Germans can use MB app to check progress of orders. Everyone else cannot. https://mercedesblog.com/mercedes-me...-your-new-car/
I made it a month without much thought....

Last year I ordered my GLC in June. Dealer told me the production date was to start at mid August. The car completed the assembly in early September and got on the ship in almost end of September. Since I knew the ship name that carried my GLC, I was able to track where the ship was.
The ship started sail in end of September and was scheduled to arrive west coast of Canada in end of October. There was a detour to go to California and it was delayed by a week. At the end, the car is unloaded at the port in early November, and the turn around time to me at dealership is additional one week.
I guess if you get the right timing of the production for your area, the your wait time simply is the assembly and shipping. So, I think average time to west coast once the car enters assembly line takes about 2 months. I got all the status including ship names from my dealership.

Supposed to be built this week. Don’t want to check on it and jinx it. Maybe next week. Fingers crossed.

3 months?

Order paper signed mid March. Salesperson informed me that production would start in April and delivery expected in June.

Date may change of course.

GLC 43
Here in NJ, I ordered a GLC 43 a couple in mid-March as well and was told late June which isn't too bad. He also said that they're assembled in Alabama, but I was hearing conflicting information that the AMG line is still assembled in Germany. Was he mistaken, or maybe I misunderstood him?
Thanks!

@Fenrix

Salesperson told me vehicle would be produced in Germany. Will find out when it arrives. Attached sticker on door pillar should indicate place of manufacture.

Mfg date for me was March 17. Apparently on schedule. Status is waiting for boat in Finland. Hopefully the computer is late to update and it's floating this way... (Dec30 purchased date so you don't have to go back and find the reference in the OP).

Thanks for the info. I also talked to another Mercedes rep earlier today who told me the same about the GLC's coming from Germany. Would make sense why our wait times are 90ish days total arriving in June. Definitely worth the wait.

Sounds like you'll be getting yours real soon since it's on the seas! Glad to see they're slowly getting back on schedule after all the Corona shutdown mess!

My understanding is that GLC's are now built in Finland because of manufacturing capacity issues at their main plant in Germany. I think somebody else in this thread mentioned theirs was waiting on a ship in Finland.
I have a GLC43 ordered March 19th, 2021. I was told around 90 days at the time and sales guy said it is "on track" for that timeframe a few weeks ago...but the actual build has not yet started.

My GLC300 came out of Finland in March, destination Central California. I have been watching the Ro-Ro ship bounce around the Atlantic for twenty someodd days... now apparently parked outside a port in Mexico on the Pacific side. Have a look if you like, https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais...l:PARADISE_ACE

For those that come after me, ask your dealer which ship your car is on, and you can track it. A complete waste of time in one sense, but you learn a lot about world freight logistics and see how car distribution works. I find how things work to be interesting...

Purchase date was December 30, manufacture date was March 17. On the ship date about 10 days later. Maybe 15-20 days transit from Finland to first stop in the USA, at NYC. Estimated time from Finland to Los Angeles port, 30-40 days.

Interesting. I placed an order for a GLC 43 on 1/28/21. Was originally told production in mid to late March. MB missed that target. When my dealer checked with MB distribution they were told the new updated production date was April 16. MB have missed that date also. My dealer is now trying to get a new update from MB distribution but so far silence. Had not entered production as of Friday 5/7. Not sure where to go from here as for as getting an accurate updated production date.🤷🏻‍♂️

the dealers have software that tells them the state of the order. My understanding is that the factory schedules the build based in three 10 day periods per month. This allows them to get all the parts in time, etc. They called the three slots per month 1d, 2d, 3d. I had a March’1d at first, which slipped to March’2d (11th-20th) and they built finished on March 17. I would think the dealer’s computer must say something. My sales guy was willing to show me that screen. Do you happen to know what it says now?

Hope you get word soon. It can be frustrating to not know.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. I do not actually know what the screen shows. I haven’t actually set foot in the dealership since I placed the order. I’ve just been in touch with them through email and phone calls. They indicated that the computer hadn’t been updated since the April build date was missed. That was supposed to be April 16-23 according to the dealership. They got those dates from MB distribution when the March date was missed. That was reason my sales advisor was going to have the New Car manager reach out to MB distribution to find out what was going on. That was supposed to happen early last week and as of Friday they tell me they have not gotten anything back. Maybe time to go in and see what’s going on. I’m actually not in a huge hurry to get the vehicle, I’d just like to know what the plan is. Thanks again!

That is some great information. Thank you so much for sharing that. I ended up reading that Mercedes uses Finland’s Valmet plant for overflow orders of the GLC and the AMG 43’s, and there are no real quality issues because they’re an established professional plant that’s been doing overflow from SAAB to Porsche for decades .

That’s unfortunate, but I would guess yours is extremely close in the que. Hopefully they get you squared away soon since it’s been a little over 90 days. I was told roughly around 100ish days from my early March order.
