Adding Apple Carplay to GLC300
#26
yep, got it all working already, thanks!
regarding the phone call troubles some of you have been mentioning, why don't you simply stay connected to the car's HF for the calls and use the unit only for media? I've had it this way and all was good (with AA, no idea with CC yet)

So after adjusting the audio hundreds of times, I decided to stop using the unit. No matter what I do, I can't get it to match the audio. I'm thinking of pulling the unit out since my car developed a parasitic drain after installing this unit. The start/stop function no longer works. I emailed the vendor but they didn't help much. I went back to using my phone for Apple Maps/Waze.

Sorry to hear that. Frankly, must a be a faulty unit somehow with this volume issue, I would suggest maybe trying to get a replacement unit from the vendor? I have it cranked all the way up to match the other audio signals but cannot tell the difference...
I have now realized another thing which I am not sure the unit was doing at the beggining, now everytime I start the car it switches to the unit rather than staying in the previous mode, is this normal behaviour for you guys too?

That is normal behavior. Once the unit connects to your phone wirelessly, it automatically switches. I believe there is an option on the phone to stop this from happening.

I've got a GLC 300, same hurdle, different year, 2019. Car doesn't apparently have the factory offered Apple Carplay capable head unit. I'm excited to see that this module worked for your 2018 model, can someone suggest the same for a 2019 model? I bought the "Pairr" wireless adapter and I now realize that it will only give a CarPlay capable head unit a wireless connection and not do what I am trying to here which is give a non Carplay head unit from MB have Carplay capability, will someone with a good experience with this suggest how to achieve this? Thx much!!!

I`d suggest getting in touch with the RoadTop seller as he is fairly communicative - I wouldn't be too surprised to see your 2019 GLC actually having the same NTG as the rest of us and possibly therefore being able to use the same head unit... he will surely investigate and confirm this with you.

Wow, OK, thanks. I will do that. is "RoadTop" simply an aftermarket brand accessory to add to the factory system? Thanks again!!!

The 2019 GLC was the last model to use NTG. The unit should work, but I do agree that you should get in contact with roadtop (Vendor). Do an Amazon search for "Roadtop GLC Carplay". It should come right up. The installation is easy since is mostly plug-and-play.

It's definitely worth the money!
Support is very helpful and willing to fix all issues.
You have to play with settings to remove echo but after that everything goes smooth.
Few minor cons

- iPhone still connects to CarPlay till you lock a car even car is off.
- The sound volume from EOM radio is much louder than from CarPlay and you have to adjust every time when you switch
- You can't see any numbers when you adjust the heater or a/c unit (that's why we have to switch to a radio
- CarPlay working like EOM 99.9%
- Don't need to use Mercedes navigation (it's sucks)
- Working like charm with wireless charger (drop iPhone on the charger and drive)
- Compare price to update the map vs cost of the unit
