Installed invisible dashcam that connects to rainsensor for power, now issues
I installed a dashcam like this that looks almost like it came with the car.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3256802384387317.html
It connects to the rainsensor for power, which is super convenient as well. After I connected and tested it out, I noticed that the wipers would come on for no reason (wipers are set to auto level 1 or 2).
Now everytime I start the car, as soon as I put it in drive, the wipers will wipe once.
)
I've read that some mercedes models actually do that all the time and it's normal for wipers to turn once when you turn the car on (if you left the selector in auto sensing).
However, I never had this issue without the dashcam on. I removed the dashcam, connected the rainsensor back and the issue is gone.
So, 2 questions. Does your GLC turn the wipers on when you put it in drive and if not, what could be causing this?
I like the dashcam but won't keep it if I can't figure out why the rainsensor is acting up? Needs recalibration perhaps? How?
I reseated the connection multiple times. I know the rainsensor is getting power as well because the light sensor works (headlights turn on at night) and rainsensor will wipe if I put water on the windshield.

My GLC's wipers do not do this but I also don't have anything wired to the same power line. I would guess that is what is causing this issue.

My SL does that occasionally as I too normally leave the wipers and headlights on auto. What if you just shut the wipers off? You could turn them on when it starts to rain, like a common person, lol.

It's the little things that this car does that's cool, like the auto seat belt pretensioner, after spraying the windshield do an extra wipe after a few seconds to clear the remaining water, start the seat belt chime slow and work it's way up ...aaaand the auto headlights and rainsensor. I'm too spoiled now to go back to manual.

Is it possible to wire the cam to the fuse box, not to the rain sensor? I spend a couple of hours wiring the cam that way but I am positive that no original equipment would be affected by the cam. BTW, wiring into the car directly may cancel factory warranty on electrical equipment ...

Dash cam
I just installed a Fitcamx dash camera. It gets its power from the rain sensor also. However when the car is turned off the camera keeps recording.
Is there an additional power source in the original MB plug?

Much safer to wire to the fuse box with separate fuse, IMO

I installed one in my wifes GLC300 a couple of months ago and it hasn't missed a beat since. Instal was painless and performance with iphone app is great. Highly recommend.

I have a Fitcamx en route https://fitcamx.com/products/fitcamx...41001441951916 and wonder if anyone who has installed on a 2021 GLC300 could comment on installation and performance. I am particularly concerned about memory card heat affecting the other electronics in the windshield housing. Thanks.
