Check Brake Wear Pad
Hi All
Alarm just pop up on the display.
I serviced the car 2 months back and had a reading of 5mm and 6mm on the front and rear respectively.
I thought those values were ample meat on the wear pad.
What's your thought?

in my experience the indicator lights with about 1000 miles left on the the pads; your 5 & 6 mm readings sound about right. I'm a little particular about the brake pads I prefer and since they're not OEM, MB Service won't install them, so I always appreciate the heads-up as it alerts me to order new pads, and whether to order fronts, rears, or, in your case, both.

Thanks mate. I am not bother with OEM. Not mechanically inclined, so getting a local workshop to install them.....
I thought 5mm looks thick.... But I guess not for the GLC.

A new brake pad is about 8-12mm, and 3mm is about as thin as you should let them get. For future reference you can look at that 5-6mm estimate as an opprtunity to order new pads before the wear indicators are activated, saving you $10-$20 each.

In my case, the "Check Brake Pads" message turned on for the rear brake pad at 38000km, and I replaced the rear brake pad at 42000km, it still had 1mm of meat.
The rear new pad Thickness is 16.4 mm
