Angry Active Brake Assist Functions Limited

Hey guys, so I was driving the other day and I get a message showing “Active Brake Assist Functions Limited.” I also had a check engine light. I would also be stuck in 3rd gear while coming to a stop. The cluster would literally show 3rd gear and 0 mph. I would try to manually shift the gears to first but it would not work. I was just wondering if the active brake assist functions being limited has anything to do with my car being stuck in 3rd gear.

2021 GLC 43

Thank you!

When I got the brake assist message, it was because of a chip in the windshield at the camera cluster.
Curious: what driving mode do you usually use? Does using a different mode have a different outcome?

A bug splat can also cause that problem.

Oh I see. In my case, there were no chips on my windshield near the camera cluster area. I switch between comfort and sport plus. When you get the brake assist message, do you lose power and can’t accelerate past a certain amount of RPM?

Yeah, a lot of people are saying that it could be the sensors dirty or the top center of the windshield needs to be cleaned but I thoroughly washed my car and the message still came up.

Never experienced those symptoms. Sounds like the car is trying to protect itself. What did the M-B service advisor say?
