Unable to put X253 Wipers into service Mode

Wondering if anyone has come across this problem before?

I am unable to put my X253 wipers into service mode. Yes, i am aware of the method, turn on ignition, turn off ignition, hold down wiper wash button on the stalk for 3 seconds and wipers should go into service mode. Nothing happens when i do it though.

Have tried all sorts of methods, starting engine, turning it off, doing the procedure with doors closed, with doors open, but wipers just refuse to go into service mode.

Wipers work normally though, intermittent mode, normal mode, wiper wash works normally as well. I am baffled.

You said you know how to do the procedure but I want to confirm this is exactly what you did right? https://www.mercedes-benz.com.do/en/...-wiper-blades/

yes sir, this is how I did it.

thanks to your link, I clicked on the manual again for my production year (2017 X253 coupe), looked at the manual and it seems I don’t have an automatic wiper service position?

Instead, I have to manually turn off ignition to stop operation of the wipers when they are at the top. Weird, I could have sworn I did the 3 seconds press to go to wiper service position previously when I changed my wipers. I must be delusional.

Attached screenshot of the manual.

2017 & 2022 GLC 300 4Matic
My 2022 GLC works for the vertical position by pressing the washer button.
2022 hood cover blocks the wiper, so I can not remove it at horizontal position without the vertical position.

But my 2017 has no problem to replace the wiper at the horizontal position.

Key on. -- key off -- push washer button.
2022 GLC.
Key on. -- key off -- push washer button.

Yup, i looked at the 2018 manual and it doesnt have this feature as well.

This feature only appeared on the x253 from the April 2019 manual onwards based on the online manual link that you provided.

Seems the feature only got implemented from 2019 onwards.

For my 2017, my wipers do not clear the edge of my bonnet if i want to lift them up. Is yours a coupe as well?

PS: Not sure if there is any relation, but mine is a RHD

I am not sure my case would help. My is 2019 model and I followed all the exact steps. It did not work till I keep my driver door open while following the steps. I tried several times but keeping door open is the only way to allow me achieve that.

Oh I see, I thought it was an option or part of a package, didn't know only model year 2019 vehicles and beyond have this feature.

Wait so LHD and RHD might be the reason?

Just open the hood to the service position and change the wipers conventionally. Or move them up by hand into the vertical position .
