So, I’m just trying to fully understand this: When did you take delivery? How long after that did MBUSA agree to buy back the vehicle? And just to confirm, they are not “researching” a possible buyback, you have received actual confirmation that the buyback is happening, right?

i had an extensive duscussion with my MB service manager today. They have had 4 2023 GLCs with battery/not starting issue out of about 30+ sold. The software fix came out end last week so hopefully that problem is solved!!

i paid a lawyer $695. He asked for my papers. I was then told it was approved by him about 2 weeks later. I have not received the check yet but i have turned in my vehicle as of yesterday

i am aware of the “fix” introduced friday, but i dont trust it, especially long term. I only actually had my car a handful of days. It has been at the dealership well over a month already and never went more than 3 days without throwing CEL or being a paperweight.

You are not alone!

Just to add on, this just happened to our 23 4matic GLC too. Don't even have 50 miles on it yet. Bought it 3 weeks ago. 2 days later, the screens all went crazy, gave me the same parking brake messages, etc. Got out of car and waited 5 minutes, got back in and same issue. Waited another 5 minutes and got back in another time, then it fixed it??
Service tech said he's seen this a few other times too, FWIW, they said it was something with the battery that needed to be cleaned and refastened?

Then, the next week, our sunroof started rattling like crazy, took it right back and it's been with the dealer for over a week now.

Sounds like we are getting REALLLY close to being a lemon here. yuck yuck

There is some validity to the claim that only folks with problems, come to forums like this to complain, while the "silent majority" of happy owners never say a word. That said, these are Mercedes-Benz vehicles that we pay large sums for and I feel we have a right to expect BETTER from this legendary brand--MUCH better.

Just went this morning for the software update, will post in a week or so with any updates. Hoping it’s fixed for good now. FWIW, the car hasn’t not started only 1 time and that was last week.

I haven’t had the no start issue with my 23, but as I posted earlier it did give me a critically low battery warning. I charged the battery and it’s been fine. The other day we had a tire pressure warning indicator followed by lane keeping assist is in inoperable and emergency braking is inoperable. After correcting the pressure and resetting, all messages when away and both the braking and lane keeping work again.
I had the software update done yesterday so we’ll see how that goes. They said the battery is fine. We’ve driven 3000 miles without any other issues. I’ll post if anything comes up from the update.

Glad to hear you were able to get out of it easily, that lawyer fee is well worth it helping you successfully getting out of the vehicle if you are dissatisfied with it.

2023 fiasco

Wow, just trying to keep up with the 2023 GLC fiasco. I actually had a GLC ordered that just came in, I opted for the 2022 old style instead. There was no commitment on the ordered vehicle even though I was able to select the options. Was telling my son how grateful I am that we did not go for the 2023. He was surprisingly aware of the situation because his good friend’s parents own one . He said that they had it for a week, had experienced the no start problem, and it’s been at the dealership since then, it has to be several weeks at least. Not sure if they live in NY or NJ , I know that lemon laws vary by state, does anyone know if either of those states have a more favorable lemon law for the buyer? I read that someone on this forum already exercised the lemon law and MB bought the car back . I would like to help these people and pass along any information that can rid them of the car. This seems like more than first model year growing pains, the entire release of this totally redesigned GLC was problematic and quite frankly questions my overall confidence in MB. I’ve had seven MBs , thankfully have enjoyed them all, however, I truly believe that certain issues, such as what’s going on now, must be corrected before the vehicle is ever released. I would question how throughly are these brand new models really tested and furthermore what unforeseen problems lie ahead. Wishing you all good luck with the GLC and perhaps this is the first and last issue you will experience.

Let your good friend's parent know that the ere is an update/ (recall?) out and see if that helps solve the issue.

Actually even got the lawyer fee and interest paid back as well since I only was able to drive the car a few days. I think I ended up paying like $25 lol

Battery problems, daily carplay/connectivity problems, audio glitches, all noticeable within a few days of purchase, this car was not tested in the real-world before release. My guess is they were trying to get all these out to market to take advantage of BMW's lack of inventory. My local BMW dealership has like 5 new cars TOTAL for sale. Not sure if this is everywhere, but my local Mercedes dealership has 13 new GLCs alone currently, and probably about 100 cars total.

I have had this happen 5 times. It has been to the shop 3 times for it. Were you able to figure out what was happening?

Any problems since the update? This has happened to me 5 times now and been in the shop 3, but they kept saying it was ground fault wires and this is first I am seeing about an update. Taking it back in tomorrow.

Sell it back to MB, if they were so careless in releasing a new model with such a glaring problem, one can only imagine what other issues will arise down the road when real people put the car through real life use.

Yes, I think we’re beta testing the 2023. Mine finally came in, I picked it up Saturday evening. I have the Pinnacle but only have some ambient lighting working. From what I can tell, the advanced safety items only work while cruise control is on. The lane keeping, when active over 35MPH, will gladly let me drift across any lane without as much as a notification… unless cruise control is on. Similarly, the full digital light capability only works when lights are set to auto. I need to check the manual but if that’s the design, they’ve taken capability away from its’ potential. I also find the antenna weak, for SiriusXM at least. A longer test drive where I could have found all that and I probably would have passed.

Oh… and with cruise control set to 70, it’s twice now reset it to 35 and braked on me… on the interstate.

The battery fix was supposedly completed prior to pickup. No issues there.

I need to figure out how to find and reset the trip computer. I accidentally found it once but saw no way to reset it.

The fingerprint sensor hasn’t worked for me yet either.

The Distronic Plus lowering the speed issue probably has something to do with the speed limit monitoring system. It most likely picked up the speed limit on an exit ramp. I've turned the feature off on my S580 and believe you can do the same. It is quite annoying.

I will look, that could have been the scenario. Hopefully it can be turned off, that would be great. Thank you so much!

Took delivery of my 300 SUV on April 24. So far no issues at all to report.
Don’t drive to much on the interstate but haven’t run into the change of speed problem. I do agree that the system could read a sign and figure it says 35 instead of 85 depending on the sign placement .
To reset the trip computer. Ask Hey Mercedes how to reset. It should give instructions. At least it did this morning.
The finger sensors works for me. I have 2 different fingers programmed. My daughter has one of hers too.

Thanks DESAL. I tried the “hey Mercedes” and a number of keywords. She just explains what a trip computer is.

I did get the fingerprint reader to work. Following the on-screen instructions didn’t work for me. I just repeatedly touched my finger to it from slightly different finger positions until the fingerprint filled in with green.

One problem solved, one more found. The rear passenger fog light doesn’t work on the passenger side.

No US spec Mercedes has the passenger fog light working. Don’t ask me why. Probably some ancient US DOT law that prohibits the factory from enabling it. I believe EU spec ones have both illuminated. I was fixated on having the right side light up when I first got my c43, was looking into splicing wires to run power to it. It’s not worth it, the taillights look great on their own. Plus you’re technically only supposed to use them to help drivers behind you see you better in rain and fog
