I dont buy off the dealer lot as I am particular about the options. My dealer promised 5% off MSRP on my special order…
I won’t brag about it until I see the contract…

No Discount

Ordered mine in Indianapolis Nov 2023 and no discount, full MSRP. Said they would honor $500 discount thru Sam's Club or Amex.

Judging by the early mild hybrid ssues and the enhanced ambient lighting fiasco, I was expecting a bigger discount to be honest.

2024 glc coupe (ordered) 2009 Porsche turbo
My dealer that I purchased two cars from would only sell me a new coupe for sticker. I called a nearby competitor and asked if they would give me 5% off. The sales manager crunched the numbers and said the margin on that car at this time is only about 4%.

No luxury brand survives on 4% margin. Big discounts at BMW now with low APR if you take delivery this month.

Based on this logic, BMW will be out of car biz soon?

Maybe in your multiverse where the #26 brand beats the #1 brand (2023 Consumer Reports ranking).

Frankly, I’m not surprised at Mercedes’ #26 ranking due to all the mild hybrid issues of late.

Going back to your statement: Big discounts at BMW ….
Can you please enlighten us how much is this big discount?

5-10% off is not unheard of at BMW right now.
Luxury brands don't become luxury brands because they start with tight 4% margins. Just saying!

Multiple Mercedes dealers wanted ADM (sometimes as much as +$20k) on a GLS this past summer. I laughed and found a dealer who would give me MSRP.
Overpriced cars that aren't reliable isn't a very good formula right now. That #26 ranking will surely fall even further in 2024!

Thanks for clarification; would you agree that giving 5-10% discount is not sustainable if luxury BMW needs at least 4% margin.
True, or False?

False.
My entry into Mercedes was a 2012 C300 4MATIC. The GM saw me walk in and we had a nice chat about possibly buying my first Mercedes. He sold it to me for about $1k below invoice (that's right...invoice...not MSRP). These type of deals were quite common for me but a first for a luxury brand. The sale price amounted to nearly 10% off MSRP! Over the years, I've owned other Mercedes but never matching the discount of the first one when I scratched the itch.

That dealership is still around and kicking and I continue to buy from them. If you've never purchased a car before the Pandemic, then your mind must be blown about getting cars below invoice!

There is roughly a 5.5-6% difference between invoice and MSRP on a Mercedes and 12.25% between invoice + holdback and MSRP.

Lots of room to play with if you're in the know. While I don't expect the "good old days" of below or near invoicing now, BMW's aggessive pricing is putting everyone on notice.
If Mercedes is fine not moving product, then there's definitely a reckoning coming (especially w/EV sales losing steam and public support).

Great, then 4% assumption is False, as evidenced by your C300 purchase.

The truth is - Discounts are not fixed numbers that will never change. They are dependent on many variables, especially market conditions.

Going back to this thread’s topic “2024 GLC discounts”:
My dealer promised 5% discount when ordering GLC 300W4 last summer (see my earlier post). Car was delivered in November and the final purchase price was slightly better than 7% below MSRP!
Hope this helps members shopping for 2024 GLC…

All this back and forth is just a longwinded way for me say to @jaskfri that his dealer is being quite coy when he said he only has 4% margin on the GLC coupe.

Without negotiation, you get
AMEX $500 off
Costco $1000 off
To get more discount you need to negotiate.
GLC with Pinnacle trim is easier to get discount because it costs more than GLE350 base model.

Exactly - one needs to do due diligence and search available discounts! And negotiate the best price before disclosing any additional discounts. There is no free lunch…
Over the years, in addition to mentioned above, I used MBCA and AMG discounts, plus employee discount….

I only see discounts on select new Volvo, Chevrolet, Buick or GMC models at Costco. Link please?

I’ll state the obvious, it all depends on the dealer, big variation. The nearest Mercedes dealer to my local dealer is over three hours away so hence very little negotiation. I got only $500 off (ordered car) with me pushing hard.

just got my customized 2024 glc coupe, I showed them the discount that was offered to me from the other dealership and they were very hesitant to give me any discount. Eventually I was able to get a 1,500 off MSRP.

I didnt have any issues with ambient lighting. In fact I didnt know that it was a standard option as I didnt order it.

Unlike the AMEX discount can be obtained via TrueCar website, there's no link for the Costco discount. The salesman took out a binder and verified that the GLC is qualified for the $1000 Costco discount. I think it may vary depends on location.
