Things that cause battery drain

I have noticed with my 23 GLC300 the following conditions will cause the battery to drain overnight leading to "Battery Critical" warnings:

•Leaving the sunshade open
•Leaving the rear seat unlatched
•Parking the car on an incline
•Not locking car while parked in garage

What was MB thinking when they programmed the security software?

I haven't got the warning lately and since I have stopped locking the car in the garage overnight.
Did you ever have to jump start your GLC ?
I have a concern about leaving my GLC parked for 10 days at the airport. Is there a procedure I should follow ?

I'm curious about not locking overnight. I was told by the dealership that it must be locked because that shuts down the computer system.

Also, to park for 10 days at the airport, use Standby Mode.

And I have not had to jump start the car because I am forced to take late night rides to recharge the battery.

If a person who is not familiar with the oddities of the new GLC read the list of “can’t do “ items they would think it’s a joke. Most everyone I know, including myself, do not lock their car in their garage. As far as the other items are concerned, perhaps the engineers were just trying to have a good laugh.

I think I was given the wrong information about locking the car in the garage. After DF777 replied that his battery drain stopped after not locking it overnight, I tried that and it appears to work.
I ignore the alerts on the app.

I still have questions about battery drain when locked and the seat is unlatched, or the sunshade is open, or if it is parked on an incline.

Getting the same warnings on the battery, dealer made a similar suggestion on locking. I'd think locking would activate alarms that would cause a drain. I doubt this locking theory is legit. I have not seen any MB technical bulletin to this effect . A car should be able to sit for months without any issues. It should also not need to be driven for an hour to maintain that is ridiculous

Some GLCs drain the battery

I was getting those battery warnings from nowhere it seemed. Reading various MB forums, it looks like some GLCs tend to drain the battery, i.e., their alternator regime provides insufficient recharge current to keep the battery fully charged, particularly if you don't drive a lot. So, the battery is slowly getting flat even when new. I got one of those car battery rechargers (£20-50), and it showed me that my relatively new battery was at ~15% charge. I recharged it to 100% and now do it once in a while as I don't drive much. So far, no problems. I recon therefore that, if you leave your GLC parked for long and find the battery flat afterwards, perhaps it is not because of the long wait as such, it is because the battery was already at a pretty low level before your parked.

Attempted setting Standby mode on 2024 GLC300. User manual instructions (both mbux and the hard copy ) are different from what is shown in the car. There is no selection for standby under vehicle in settings!
Call to MB customer service was waste of time….
Do we know if standby is even available on this model?
Anybody succeeded setting up “Standby”?

Did not know it is hidden under the Open/Close as manual stated it is a separate line under “Vehicle”.
