2024 GLC300 Mojave Silver

Hi, y'all. Coming over from the X166 forum. Traded my 2017 GLS550 for a 2024 GLC300. No longer needed the 3rd row nor the prospect of fixing things out of warranty. It was going to need tires soon as well. The GLC ticked lots of boxes. Smaller so it'll fit in the garage better. Lot's of new tech. Nice ride. Won't win any stoplight races. Roomier than I first thought. That's the good news. Bad news is there's a stop sale on it because it was manufactured with an incorrect door jam sticker. New one due at dealer Tuesday. Meantime I'm driving the GLS with a dealer plate on it. It's their car now so they loaned it to me. I guess they didn't want any buyer's remorse to kick in. I'm sure there's lots of satisfied owners out there and I hope to become one. Of course there are members here with some problems. If I do have some, I know where to come for advice. BTW the deal was something. They gave me $1,500 more in trade than their sister BMW dealer next store. Then they took $2k off the top. I remembered we were Sam's Club members which knocked off another $500. During checkout when the finance person was pushing the add on packages, we indicated mild interest in the windshield insurance. She cut the price from $2k to $1,100 in the blink of an eye. This is Texas so it's not if but when. BTW the dealer was part of the ransomware attack. Took forever to complete the deal. And we swore we would never buy a gray car. I know it's silver. It's the German rainbow. Black, white and gray. The Mojave has just a slight tint that makes it look like champagne but, yeah, it's gray....

Congrats on the new car! Sounds like a lot of dealers were willing to deal during the ransomware attack!

Can you explain "incorrect door jamb sticker"? I've never heard that for a production car.

Bizarre, huh? I've bought 50+ cars in 60 years of driving (don't do the math). I thought I heard most of the wild things that come out of car salesmen's mouths. You would think it would be true, since making it up would really take some imagination. They said one of the door jam stickers had incorrect numbers on it. The replacement stickers were coming in batches, with mine due Tuesday. I'll dig more when I pick up the car. Flash back to 1961, Langhorne PA. Reedman was one of the first, if not the first, multi mark dealerships in the country. My father was trying to buy a Dodge station wagon, arguing Plymouth prices against it. Dodge was slightly more upscale than Plymouth at the time. Finally, the salesman threw the keys across his desk, stopping in front of my father. He said "if you can beat that price, I'll eat the car". Still at the top of the list.

Since I have to wait for the car, I downloaded the 2024 GLC300 OM from the MBUSA site. Then I uploaded it to Books on an old iPad mini. So I have a compact OM that I can read while I wait. Will also work well in the glove box rather than the phone book style one that comes with the car.

UPDATE

Still don't have the car. They cashed our check however. Salesman told me tomorrow. Excuse is still the sticker problem. I'm more inclined to think it's a registration problem. Seems the hacked software did that for the dealers. Meantime, I still have my GLS...

Hopefully they didn't "double reserve" your VIN! Not sure how society survives now w/o computers! LOL!

Sales mgr called me. I guess the 2 salesmen said "you got us into this mess. You call him back". He claimed there was no way to get a hold of anyone. The new stickers were coming in bunches. He then made me feel really well by noting that even some of the new stickers were wrong. End result? They ain't got a clue. No point in getting myself worked up. Will update as news is received. If any of you are visiting your dealer in the near future, maybe you could ask about this problem to see if it has surfaced anywhere else? I'd appreciate it.

Hi all, thank you for sharing your experience - we are in the same situation. Our '24 GLC arrived at my dealer on June 14 - the same day we were told that Mercedes put a stop sale on all MB SUVs. My wife was in an accident with her GLC on June 3. Her 2022 MB GLC was totaled so we needed to rent another vehicle. The other insured's insurance company will pay for the loaner for up to 2 weeks, so we were so fortunate to find another GLC so quickly and have it arrive at my local dealer within 2 weeks. It's now been 2 weeks since I was supposed to take delivery and the rental expense is on us. The salesman offered to give us a loaner, but the general manager said no. They appear to have no idea when the sticker will come in for my car. They tell me the stickers come in daily with parts. I was informed that MB would compensate us for the additional time for my loaner. I was told $1,000 and we are already over that and will be well over if it takes another week. The last email was from my salesman on Monday who told me what a "huge" undertaking this is for MB and they are doing the best they can. It escapes me as to how a company like MB does not have a better fix - are they sending them by carrier pigeons? The dealers apparently have no idea what's even coming, other than some show up every day with parts. Is anyone else experiencing this delay and would you mind sharing what if anything is your dealer doing for you? We don't even get updates. We are basically told don't call us, we'll call you when we know something and we are doing all we can.

Isn't your and the OP's issue tied to the recent ransomware attack?

Hi. I don't believe this ransom attack fallout. Just a monumental screwup on the part of MB. They put a paper plate on my 2017 GLS550 and gave it back to me as a loaner. I texted the salesman that I would visit soon so I could sit in it and learn the tech.

Visited my car today which is still under the Stop Sale. Rumor has it the last of the stickers will arrive this week and I might get it by Friday (they didn't say which Friday ) Sat in it with the salesman for 20 minutes going through most of the tech. Favorite feature is being able to quickly access the surround cameras. I bought this one because of its interesting build out. 2 WD with ventilated MB TEX. Leather and 4Matic add another $5k. The surround view was a must. It was part of package DX1 which included GUARD 360, Burmeister, illuminated sills and navigation. We looked at other GLC's they had in case we got tired of waiting. In the same price range only 3 had the ventilated seats but not the surround view. Now we wait. I hope Tom above gets his soon as well.

Got a call to pick up the GLC at 430 this afternoon. Just in time to ride back to Galveston and park it in the garage for the next 3 days.

Had to wait for insurance cards due Beryl. Now without power since Sunday night in Galveston. Got to take the car for a ride yesterday. Brakes are terrible. Like stepping on a balloon that you're afraid might pop. Otherwise, nice tech, nice ride, and still glad I bought it.

I do not like brakes too. They will get better after some bedding. I think this is because they use ceramic pads now on new benzes.

Hi - may I ask what dealership you were working with? I am waiting for a 2024 GLC 300 from Houston North and having the same issue regarding the sticker and stop sale.

Sure. MB Clear Lake. We "bought" the car Saturday June 22. They told about the stop sale then. They expected to have the correct ones Tuesday June 25. Nope. Thursday June 27 the sales manager called to apologize and basically say we don't know when. Monday July 1 I visited my car to sit in it and play with the tech. They called Saturday July 5 that I could come get it. It went straight into the garage as I couldn't insure it until Beryl passed. Insured as of Tuesday but I'm afraid to drive around with half the traffic lights out in Galveston.
