300de real electric range

Hello everyone,

I just bought a 300de c254 with 10k km.

I really started questioning the battery real range. The range, as per mbux, was 88km with 100% charged battery, and not 120 as it’s stated in ads.

The worst part, in real life, it gets about 55km when i drive with electricity, and that’s in the city, where it should have better range.

Has anyone seen such range figures?

Thanks!

What is the temperature you have been driving in ( you didn’t say where you live). That affects range the most (almost the most).

Temp is about 4-10 celcius this time of year in Greece. I am aware that the battery is affected by weather, but according to tests, it's only 10-30% decrease. Mine is more than that. Battery lasts for 55 kms and the nominated range is 120 kms

Temperature affects the battery, but range is also affected by the use of cabin air conditioning or heat (as well as all other accessories). Both are powered by the battery.

My ID4 at 80% goes from over 200 miles in the summer to under 150 miles this time of year.

Yeap, only aircon at 23 degrees and no heating seats. It doesn't make sense

Thank you Gitzer. But even in this case, it's 30% decrease. If I had the same percentage, it would go from 120km x 30% = 84km. But it only lasts 55kms!

Have the dealer check out the battery's health. If it's charged frequently on 60 DC, that can reduce battery life.

No DC charging, only AC! But good idea to check battery health. Thanks

I think fast DC charging is not good for battery life, if you do it a lot. That's probably why the car defaults to 20 kW each time.

yes I think so but problem there is no official opinion or notice from MB regarding DC fast charging? the only notice in MBUX regarding fast charging that reduces the initial battery life in the engine compartment

That's odd. I didn't think the 12V battery would be affected much.

The problem with fast charging is that it heats the large battery up and the heat cycling causes it to age faster. Using 20 kW and maybe burning a bit more fuel on road trips would likely be better if you will be keeping the car beyond 5 years. We will be ordering our GLC 350e in Canada in a few days and I hope to keep it 17 years, like the B200 5 speed it will replace. I will have the fast charger but only use it very rarely.

Just an update,

Went to local dealership, they checked the battery reserve, it’s 99,65%. I also had an email response from mb customer service, saying that the battery range is affected by temperature, driving style, etc.

Anyway, I am trying to change my driving behavior to see if anything changes.

mine 119 km with 100% charged battery, and in real life i measured it is about 90km but driving Hybrid not full electric

not yet tested full electric to see the the real KM but i think it is the same because with Hybrid the car always use the charge available in battery

I ll have a go with the hybrid mode and I ll post the results. The mentioned range was with electric, where there is no chance of diesel consumption. Thanks!
