Strange Engine Sound GLC43

Hi All,

I have some strange sound coming from my engine. The off and on softer vibration buzzing sound.

It came sometimes after I drive but not cool start.

Is this normal?

I have exactly the same sound coming from my wife's GLC43. Pointed this out to the dealer just after taking delivery and they told me this was normal, not making me very happy.

Hating this "vong vong vong" sounds... Driving me me nuts...

I never had nor have any sound like this in my glc43

Is this something you can hear from inside the car? I don't hear anything like that on mine, but I havent popped the hood to listen

2017 GLC43, 2009 Cadillac CTS-V

Have the same sound on mine. Can only hear it from the outside, correct?

Thought it might be the compressor from the AC, but happens without AC on.

No idea what it is...

Possibly the engine cover is loose and vibrating ? Either way it sounds odd.

Hi there - I have a similar issued on my 17 GLC43 and wondering if it is the same issue you were having, however the video is unavailable. Could you share again? Is it like an intermittent buzzing/vibration noise? Any harm from it? Here is my video:

Dropping it off at the dealer on monday. Seems to happen only when I the car gets warm and the turbo going. I did a bit of digging and it seems to be the emissions control valve or turbo pressure converter? Really odd because the car runs fine. Do you have a similar issue?

Our 2018 had a slight droning sound at idle when we first bought it however that has gone away. The car has always run fine.

Hi all,

I had the same issue it was the pressure controller of the turbo. It was changed and since everything is ok.
Attached is a video before the change of the part.

I dont think the video has attached but was it the same sound as the other video posted?

Was the part changed under warranty? Do you have any idea what the part number is?

Pretty sure my part # is A0081535428. It is covered under the 4 year warranty.

Lucky me. Our 43 is three weeks old (to us) and I'm having the same issue. Thanks to those who shared their experience with this - I knew what it was the second I saw the part and looked at my video again. Will be scheduling service for it under CPO warranty.

It’s the auxiliary coolant tank not being bolted down properly from the factory. If you put your finger on the tank, the noise will go away. Mercedes will fix it for you in a jiffy.

Actually it was the vacuum transducer. MB replaced it under warranty when I took it in for it's most recent A service. I was tiny bit worried when they popped the hood and saw my intakes and JB4 but replaced it anyway without any push back or issues. Easy peasy
