GLC63: Timeline for Delivery

Hey guys,

New member to the forum, currently I have a leased e63S that I am going to be getting rid of and was on the search for a new vehicle. Since I have a close friend @ Mercedes I was thinking of getting another AMG vehicle. Originally I always wanted the C63 but when they first released the lease numbers were out of this world, so my friend worked me a deal for an E63 @ a lower cost. Since the model was nearing its end I guess he swung me a pretty good deal. After looking at the c63 again and the GLC43 I thought the c63 was my car again. But after seeing some info on the GLC63, I thought I could get a c63 with 4 wheel drive, which in the north east is never a bad idea. Seeing that the motor is being mated with most parts from the new e63 makes me feel like this truck will be one of a kid. With the new 9 speed MCT, and 4-Matic+ as well as only being 400 pounds heavier than a c63 sedan this might be the best truck in the class. Although the stelvio might have something to say, I think the GLC may look a little nicer.

After contemplating I have went ahead and put my name on an incoming GLC63W4. Not totally sure if I'm going to lease or buy it yet, I don't think the residuals and MF have come out yet for the car but I'd assume something close to the c63 numbers. If any member has any info, post it here!!!

i have received word that my cars production will start the 3rd week of December. But I was wondering how long from the production date it will take to see the car in the states? I know there has been some speculation on importing but if any one could also update me on anything they have heard that would be awesome.

Will post build sheet shortly

thanks for all the help!!

Congrats on putting in an order on the GLC63. Interesting that your dealer gave you a 3rd week of December build date. I have an order with my dealer and was told likely a January build date but that MB has not confirmed scheduled builds or deliveries. For what its worth, I was told to expect a March delivery assuming the January build date holds. But given the lack of information from MB, the fact that the configurator is still not active, and pricing of options has not been finalized, I would go back to your dealer and try to get more information/details. Good luck and let us know on the forum how it goes.

I also put in an order for a GLC63 and was originally given a third week of December build date but after being unable to properly reconfigure the build due to the configurator not working properly, my dealer investigated further and advised that the build date was tentative and that we would have a couple of weeks prior to the official build to configure the specs. To date there has been no change and since the "build date" is coming quickly I'm guessing that the build dates are going to get pushed out. I was told delivery would be about 6 weeks after the build date.

I've been reading any news I can find and have yet to see any definitive information relative to an official release date. My guess is that we may be into the second quarter before these vehicles are available.

Typically it takes 6 weeks from production to delivery.

Of course start of production builds may run into "release" delays. Cars are not released until the "market launch". "Market Launch" requires (a) the car is cleared for release by the EPA; and (b) Mercedes has enough cars available to warrant launching the car and begin promoting it.

In the case of the GLC63 I believe it already has EPA certification. Hopefully this means it is good to go unless they made changes. If it needs to be rectified it could take a few months.

In terms of Mercedes deciding market launch readiness, last I heard they were still debating the date and there was a sense it would be pushed back.

BTW the "release" date has not been set yet. MBUSA posted this on the GLC63 release date thread on the AMG Lounge yesterday:

We truly appreciate your patience on this matter.
Because of issues with there being a gap between the vehicle arriving at port, and "release date" delays, you often see a build up of large inventories at the port. Some 2018 E63S cars were waiting at port for nearly 6 months. Many of the cars in this photo are sold cars, gathering dust at the VPC waiting for release.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the quick reply's always appreciate that. It's a little worrisome that release date info has not become available yet. My friend @ mercedes is a sales manager and he's sent me the configurator from his dealer and it's showing 17/12/3D and I configurated the car fairly recently. It was an original allocation but I believe no one claimed it. Have the build sheet as well from him. Would post but not sure if I can from the mobile site.

But i am at 44k miles on a 45k lease. Don't mind going over a little bit but was hoping that a car would be available by the end of January. If not I may have to go in a different direction. Hence why I was looking for info about importing. I guess it's just a wait and see

If you're build is third week fo December, I think it is highly unlikely the car will be delivered to you by the end of January. Maybe first week of Feb if all goes smoothly, but more likely it will be later than that. You should be able to extend your lease though, and I always thought they gave you more miles for lease extensions.

Was your allocation configurable?

Minor correction, the 3D means 3rd decade in December, not third week. So any time in the last ten days of December...

My dealer cancelled my GLC63 order

hey stealth pilot
my dealer which may be same MN dealer as yours just cancelled my GLC63 SUV order and returning my $2500 deposit. They claim new ownership does not want to honor signed contract as they can’t get allocation.

Did you you get any response from MB USA CEO? I spoke to him last week face to face at the LA Auto show and complained about the lack of an S version for SUV. He was Tap dancing and nice and understood the concern.

Im deciding next actions but this poor dealer experience may sour me to get what I really want which is Pre-owned S63 AMG Coupe and just let the wife do the SUV with a new base cayenne

Are you talking about FI, Sears, or the "new" MB of St.P? Perhaps we are all in the same boat...

I had a feeling this might happen. In my case the MN dealer is honoring the discount, and they may well have a car for me soon (thanks to intervention from MBUSA).

Given the April launch, do you know if it will be 2018 or 2019 models year?

My S.A. agrees. MB has introduced other models much later in the year and have not changed model year.

It's poor for customers though,

Another reason BMW is better. BMW launched the 540i and 530i as 2017 models last December. The M550i was delayed till April so they launched that as a 2018 rather then leave customers with a super short model year.

I have a GLC63 on order. Dealer quoted a mid April delivery date which puts build somewhere around end of February.

Nice. Just a bit more than my Macan GTS build. I hope they have the configurator up soon so I can decide if either Macan GTS or GLC63 to replace my aging RDX.

1.7" less legroom than the GLC or the Q5. Very tight.

That doesn't matter to me. What matters is that the GLC63 will walk the Macan GTS in a straight line.

Exactly. I might have said it wrong. The GLC has almost 2 inches more legroom in the second row. So after looking at the Macan offerings, I was back to the 63S.

I'm debating whether to give up.

I have been talking to a different dealer about an E63S and I am being offered 7% off. If that goes up to 10% I may just buy it.
