Apple CarPlay

Apologies if this has been asked and answered but.....

I have a 2018 GLC43 Coupe with Navi and the larger display screen. Was told that config doesn’t support Apple Car Play. Wondering if it’s possible to modify so Car Play will be supported? Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

This will not help. My E Class has a special USB connection for smart phones. Maybe a stereo shop would be able to install one for you?

I emailed back and forth with a few vendors on eBay and Amazon. One of them said this will allow it to work:
https://www.amazon.com/Unichip-Smartauto-Mercedes-Smartbox-Supporting/dp/B078HRWQQC

I have not bought yet though.

Only way to do it and make it work is with a 3rd party contraption like King linked to. You have the COMAND system if you have the larger display, so you are basically, SOL...thank you, MB. I've searched high and low to resolve this and these 3rd party contraptions are the only way as of now. You'll need to rip apart your dash to install them and some functions won't work or be as seamless as a stock system would have been. I've resigned myself to just use a phone holder and Android Auto on my cellphone, bluetoothed to my GLC. Apparently, the 2020 GLC will change and have the new system like the 2019 C Class...meaning COMAND with ACP/AA.

Oddly enough I have the apple car play in my E63s but I dont have sirius radio in the car. Some reason they both cant coexist as mercedes told me lol

I did what he said..

I put a phone holder in the driver corner and snaked a power cord through the dash to come out of the driver window defrost vent. Came out pretty nice.

King, I have both SiriusXM and Apple CarPlay in my car. There does not appear to be any conflict.

If not too inconvenient, would love to see some pics of your phone holder setup and what product(s) you used to make that happen.

Thanks all. The DIY option is way above my pay grade. I'll live with COMAND for now.

Here you guys are. I removed the center console and ran through to the lower driver side and lining and ran under the steering wheel and up the side behind the electrical panel. I did have to drill a little in the vent due to the cable i bought. I got the Otterbox cable which is pretty durable and a lot more strong than the average cord. Here is the placement:
