2017 GLC43 AMR Tune

I had difficulty finding many reviews of tunes when I started looking for my GLC 43. In the end I chose to go with AMR because they seemed to have the longest and most well established record with the engine platform and they were extremely nice to deal with on the phone. I really couldn't find any credibly negative reviews. I am exceptionally happy with my choice.

I worked with Matthew at AMR. I was able to get a tune specifically for 91 octane (all we have around here). I opted not to remove my ECU and send it in but to go with the MyGenius handheld system. After payment, Matthew sent me the MyGenius handheld unit. With MyGenius (only works on a PC. No Apple support) I downloaded the ECU software from my car through the OBD port and emailed the file to AMR. They sent back (just hours later) the original file and the tuned file which I loaded onto the MyGenius. I then downloaded the tuned file onto the car. It is that easy. I can switch back and forth at will though I can't really see going back :-)

I immediately went for a drive. The car was sharper for sure, but I was not overwhelmed. I did my best to remain calm as I had seen many reviews where people noted that things improved over 24-36 hours as the car relearned some parameters that were wiped with the tune. Well, I drove the car more today and I am really out of expletives. It is truly amazing. All seat of the pants, no testing done. But, I am definitely in awe and it has rekindled my love for this car which is really great for the Wyoming lifestyle. Seriously, my Porsche comes out of winter storage this week and all I can think about is how fun this has made the GLC 43.

If anyone has questions, I will do my best to answer, but please don't push for hard data. I just don't have it. But I consider the money very well spent and the grin factor is HUGE.

Remy

Do you keep the handheld unit to do the switching, if you want? What’s the tune add for hp/tq? Did u do a throttle reset after installing? Not sure I’m gonna keep my 43 (new 63 is calling me), but good to see/hear about this option. Thx!

I hear you on the attraction of the 63 but, for now, my desire has been squashed :-) The way I looked at it, I could spend under $2k to make sure I really needed to spend an incremental $20-30k on the 63 (value of used car versus cost of new car). For ME, I am currently happy and no longer think about the 63. And to boot, I am getting similar performance but with almost twice the mpg

You do keep the hand held unit with both your original software and the AMR tuned software on it. You can switch back and forth if you wanted to do that. Furthermore, if for some reason the dealer reflashed your car, you still have the ability to reflash it with the tuned software.

My tune is specifically for 91 octane which will yield lower results, but if I recall Matthew suggested I would see a 80-100hp improvement with a similar change in torque. But again, I have not tested anything. Just driving it like bat out of hell!

My interest is significantly piqued as the positive reviews pop-up AND the price point seems to be going down.
$1699 for those Stage 1 gains seems like money well spent. Reviews seem as reasonable as can be expected
in an internet world that finds fault with and hates everything. I have no desire to wrench on an AMG but if something
like this hand-held, plug-in play unit is as simple as described sign me up. I believe a GROUP BUY might be a great idea.
Open to your response AMR.

Happy Merry New Cheer(s)

Just a thought:
Maybe cut/copy this thread and turn it into a new more more aptly titled : M276 - Maximize Your Engines Potential- Check Out Our NEW TUNES @ AMR. Either way I'll be here all week so don't forget to try the veal.

Is this email tune one that needs to be fine tuned with a few revisions? I have another car that is tuned similar w email tunes onto my hand held. I do data logs and email those back to the tuner so they can fine tune the car w my gas quality plus elevation and any other factors.

No, that process is common with JDM vehicles (such as Subaru, Mitsubishi Evo, etc,), but is not the case with European vehicles.

Our handheld programmer comes with our "off the shelf" stage 1 and 2 maps for both 91 and 93 octane at no additional charge. We have done extensive research and development on our upgrades before their release to the public.

I hope you all are enjoying the new year so far!

Curious about the burble. Any way
to get that more aggressive or frequent without sacrificing reliability/performance?

@Matt- I have done some searching and find the AMR "burble" to not be any more prominent than the burble from the stock MB PE exhaust. Is there a more focused side by side clip showing just how much deeper/throatier the "burble-tune" is from stock MB PE or is the "burble tune" you reference just more turning up the aggressiveness of the "pops n bangs" ? Thanks.

Good morning!

If you check our social media pages (especially Instagram as we have a saved story on our page), you will notice our burble is quite enhanced over stock. It is most apparent on downshifts and deceleration.

OK so I was mistaken. I thought the burble referenced a more throatier exhaust note but apparently it is referencing the pop's n bangs which I am not looking to enhance anymore than my current MB PE produces. Just assuming there is a tuning option that does not add the burble (pop's n bangs enhancement). Thanks

Yes, we can do non burble maps if requested.

We look forward to your upgrades!

Jist wish it was more aggressive and not so subtle! Overall, happy with the tune, definitely power on demand when it’s needed (or not) and smoother shifting over stock. Feels quicker above the RaceChip this replaced.

I have a 2018 AMG GLC 43 SUV and would be interested in your AMR 91 and 93 Octane tune. Are you going to have any Thanksgiving/Black Friday Sales coming up? I was thinking about the JB4 piggy back tune but yours sounds
a lot better and no ugly wires to install under the hood. Thanks for the info. You can E-Mail me the info at indytom12@comcast.net Just checked on Facebook and the price really has gone up. I would jump on the $1699 but now the Comfort tuner
is $2299 plus shipping and even with a discount the top CEO gave me it was $2000 plus shipping. Yikes. I guess it's supply and demand. I may have to look into the JB4 after all.

That was a nice Sale. The price now is $2299 but Matt is a nice guy and offered me a generous discount. Just not as nice as yours was ;-) I may wait until Black Friday to see what shakes lose.
My wife won't let me get the tune for 2k. :-(

The product you are receiving is completely different than the one OP has. He has our previous handheld with 1 tune.

You are receiving our sleek touchscreen handheld programmer with up to 6 tunes, free updates and free burble. This is also the only handheld on the market for your vehicle that can be uninstalled and sold to someone else if you get rid of the car.

I responded to your FB message, so we can chat there

Curious does this tune also include the TCU as torque is limited in 1-2-3 from the factory so gains down low are minimal. Most ECU tunes will be felt at highway speeds.
Thanks

I’ve been happy with the stage 1 AMR tune, easy to switch back to stock.

Something to keep in mind with tunes or any emission modification done on these vehicles, from the factory mercedes saves and logs all control unit data including a cvn code. That cvn code is specific to that program in your ecu, when you program it with a tune or make any changes, that cvn code changes. If you ever have an issue with your Benz that might require a technical assistance case made, they (mercedes, not the dealer) will look at that cvn code to see if it's changed from the original code logged from the factory. If it's changed due to a tune, even if you flashed it back to stock, your Vin will be flagged and all future warranty repairs will have to be authorized by a mercedes representative after they decide if the tune (which operates the car above what its been designed to handle) contributed to the failure. Basically you can forget about most of your warranty on any engine, Trans, diff, or driveline failures. People thinking you can just put it back to stock and mercedes won't know is completely incorrect. Anytime you perform a program change in an ecu, the cvn code changes. Theres no way around that. Please consider this when deciding to tune your car. This applies to ALL tunes....AMR, weistec, renntech, AMS, OE TUNING.......everyone.
