2019 amg 63s Coupe or 2020 amg 43 /63

Hi Guys,

I need some help here. I was interested in 2020 amg 63s, but since no dealer is giving me info on 2020 63s and some suggested it might be a year before we see them in the US. I've been contacting dealers to get a good deal on 2019 amg 63s. I've gotten pretty good deals and possibly jump into a 3 year lease.

From yesterdays post it sounds like 2020 AMG 43 is coming out this year. Should i wait for AMG 43/63 to come out this year? or it will really take at least a year for AMG 63 or 63s to come out.

I'm new to AMG line...i've been driving porsche, so i'm hoping the experience will be as good.

2018 AMG GLC 43
I would wait for the 2020 to come out. They may have improved on the build quality a little with the interior. I have some minor rattles in my dash that are annoying. Other than that the car is perfect after 20k miles. That said, there aren't enough changes with the 2020 to make me want to trade up.

I shopped the macan S before I bought the 43. The porsche has a smoother transmission and the build quality is a lot better. However, the mercedes looks WAY better and is a lot faster. I'm not really sure why people like porsche so much LOL the x3 with the m package and the glc43 both out performed the porsche by a lot.

I didn't shop the glc63 or the macan turbo, but on paper I don't see how the porsche could possibly compete.

Oh, and the porsche was stupid expensive, like $10k more for similar spec vehicles when I was shopping.

Meh, personally I didn't think the build quality of the Porsche justified a $20k+ premium over what I paid for
my 43. Not a day goes by where I am thinking that I made a poor decision opting for the 43.
The 43 is one of the best luxury performance SUV deals on the market right now.
Nevertheless it is NOT a 63 and doesn't come with the honking V8, but the price gap is pretty significant
so the question is do you need the V8 in the 63 ?
Test drive the 43 you just might like it and in the process save yourself some cashish.

Going from a Porsche to Mercedes? that'll be a downgrade and you'll be disappointed. Take it from someone who went from Porsche to AMG.

how come?

I do have a Macan S right now. I love the car, but it's a bit under power and not the latest tech. Otherwise the driving feeling / sound is perfect for me. Im obviously also considering the new Macan S as well. My experience with Porsche service has been great. I get a loaner when i drop the car and everything is taken care of. no issue there. 63S sounds like a well sorted out engine and i feel like the benz is more luxury oriented.

Since you mention tech here, IF tech is highly important to you, WAIT for the 2020 model GLC's. The MBUX system in the 2020's should be much better than the COMAND system of present 43/63's and MBUX will have both Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.

I've been pretty happy with my 43 with no major complaints/issues...other than the tech. My 18 GTI has better tech and although not the same power, it's pretty fun to drive, as well. In the process of deciding on whether to keep my 43, upgrade to a new 43 or more likely a 63, or go a diff route all together. First world problems/decisions. Good luck!

Whichever year you go for get a 63 so you can blow a macan turbo off the road.

My dealer has an October build allocated for 2020 glc63. Sounds like your dealer is trying to make a sale now.

I've gotten one dealer give me 14% off MSRP of a loaded coupe 63s. lease comes out to $1350 for 3 years with 7k down. 2 year lease is around 1600.

any thoughts on this?

I'm thinking if i jump on the 2 year lease now and go the pull forward program i would be able to switch to 2021 63s around may of 2021.

Decent discount but like others have said, the tech in the 2019's is old. No apple car play if you have any options on it, nav and everything isn't user friendly, plus in a couple months you're driving an "old" model when the new ones are out.
I was offered a similar discount but the dated tech is the only thing I really dislike about my 43 so couldn't justify paying the difference and not having the new tech. I'd rather a 2020 and pay a bit more for it.
I test drove the new Macan S a couple of days ago. Updates are nice, touchscreen looks great, but it felt lethargic compared to my 43 and to option it the same as what I have would make it about $15,000 more than what I paid for the Mercedes. Might revisit it when the facelifted Turbo or GTS come out but I'm leaning towards the 63.

macan GTS and Turbo are great. Again, i love the car i have right now. it's way underpower, old tech, but the way it drives and exhaust sound is great. also love the macan being low (i dont really like high SUV type like x5) GLC is somewhat in between the macan and x5 i guess.

I think my worry is that 63s wont be in USA until mid next year. So if i get a 2 year lease, i can switch less than a year after the new one is out. Yes, if i were to buy it, i would definitely wait for the 2020, but leasing gives me the NO worry factor.

They are basically the same in height between the two, with the GLC overall actually being a smidge lower. Not sure why you think the GLC is higher? It's definitely not in between the Macan and X5.

Maybe because macan has a wider wheel base/ stance.

Rear track is actually wider on the GLC. Front is a whopping 0.7" narrower on the GLC. The GLC has a longer wheelbase by 2.5". Again, not a substantial difference.

I parked next to a Macan GTS yesterday. Dimensions looked the same to me.

I will say they are a sweet looking ride though.
