Anyone know what’s making this sound?
I took my vehicle into the dealer last Tuesday to have the oil topped off because it had been reduced to below the minimum line on the dipstick. Everything was fine until the following morning when it started to make a funny noise (akin to a playing card caught in a bicycle wheel’s spokes). The noise went away this weekend (I left the vehicle in Comfort mode) but when I placed it into Sport+ and put the hammer down then switched into Eco mode, the sound came back.
I’m not a car person and this is my first Mercedes so any help is appreciated. I will take it to the dealership tomorrow but I would like to know what’s causing the issue. The valet manager where I park on weekdays believes it to be a loose belt, and my saleswoman believes it to be something loose hitting a fan.
Thanks.
It’s not making the noise anymore so I’m assuming the paper was the culprit (since the noise sounded like a playing card caught in a fan). I’ve also noticed my coolant reservoir is loose and jiggly, so if the noise should ever come back, then I’ll have to assume it’s that instead.
