Prepaid maintenance worth it?

Possibly getting into a GLC63 and was wondering what was the general consensus on getting prepaid maintenance.
Is it worth it and will it be cheaper than doing individual services??
Or better off with an Indy shop?

This is would be the my first Mercedes so not too familiar with the service structure and related prices.

There are lots of opinions on this and it is thoroughly hashed out on this site. The search button will guide you.

Is your vehicle currently within the factory warranty? It’s a good idea to have the vehicle serviced according to the published MB schedule, by a dealer, during the warranty period. It removes a potential objection in the case of a warranty repair, should that be needed.

If outside of factory warranty, DIY, Indy or dealer are all legitimate options.

a lease is 100% worth it as MB pays some (residual increase) .. even w/o.. labor rates/parts go up every year and its worry free.. I don't do it since I get employee discounts, but made my mother get it in case I don't work here anymore

Ask dealer how much A & B service are for the car you are interested in.

Compare to the charge for Prepaid.

In my case cheaper to pay as I use aand not get PRepaid as it would cost more then dealer normal charge

Generally the prepaid service will be cheaper than not prepaying for it. I can't remember the discount but last I heard is was like 30%.

Out of my last 6 sport SUVs, I only got it on the first one, sold the car 1 year later and wasted my money. I don't trust myself to keep a car very long even though each time I tell myself "I AM KEEPING THIS ONE". The last 3 only stayed with me a year.

You can request a refund for unused prepaid maintenance.

I just called the dealer and its way cheaper to get the prepaid service than pay as you go. Pay as you go only works out for you if you A. don't want to actually follow the service intervals and B. have a independent shop do the work. At the dealer, the pay as you go service will be more expensive. Plus I like the fact the wife just drops off her GLC and doesn't pay a dime when she picks it up.

I checked into it and couldn't recoup any money. Maybe because I traded it in for a BMW at a different dealership?

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I will have to call my local dealer and find out prices for individual services.
I couldn't find the service schedule for the GLC 63, anyone got a link?

I've also done some reading in anticipating of receiving my GLC63 and am learning that the Diff Fluid Change at 1800 miles is included in the PPM plan too. Just something to consider I guess.

See attachment. This is the Canadian version so you'll have to convert to miles.

Wow that’s cheap.
Was this at the dealer or Indy shop?

Yes, my dealer seems to be pretty high on maintenance but they seemed low on this. Then they quoted me $500 higher than Tire Rack on a set of Michelins, as the best they can do.

My Service Advisor had to send a form into MBUSA after securing signatures from the delaer’s leadership. YMMV, but wouldn’t hurt to ask your old SA?

Always had dealer to throw it in as deal closer. Someone gotta do the work and my dealer ain't that bad on the service side of the biz and I like dealing with them. No brainer if you lease.

So I called the local service department to ask about the rear diff oil change service and I was told that for 2020 GLC 63 it isn’t required until 30k miles. Can anybody confirm that?

That is not correct. I recall when I took delivery there was actually a sticker on the windshield that states 1800ish miles. In addition, both my local dealers confirmed it is required at 1800ish miles.

$375 here.. a bit steep, but it is what it is...

Hard to say if this applies to the 2020 GLC63. It probably does. Note the AMG model 2k and 30k rear axle oil change intervals.
