Just got winter tire and wheels for the wifes car. Lousy pic but thought I would share anyways. Tires are Continental Contact DWS06. Went from the factory 21's to 20's. So for they have a good bite in the wet without the dreaded chatter of the Sumner tires. Its getting a bath later today.

No spacers, rims match the stock width and stagger.

Not custom, my local Les Schwab dealer found an off the shelf rim that cleared everything.

Oh ok, they'll be different widths than stock then. They come in 20x9 and 20x10.5.
FYI you can use the factory Mercedes center caps on them.

I have Conti DWS06 on my GLE63s. Even thought DWS stands for Dry Wet Snow it is not a winter tire - it's all-season. Winter tires don't have a treadwear or mileage rating.

Im trying to figure out the best wheels to do the same thing for mine. Looking at the Michelin Pilot Alpin 5, since the stock tires I got are the Pilot Sport 4 S.

Thinking I will drop down from the 21 to 20, has that been an issue at all since you switched them out? What wheels did you get on yours?
