So with this being my first luxury vehicle and just going over 5k miles, thought i'd share my initial experiences and opinions so far. Shockingly enough I love this car/truck/suv and I never get tired of looking at it when i walk up to it or away from it. I've seen maybe one other older model and I constantly get head turns, thumbs up, and some "damnnnnnn". I've had numerous run ins with JDM and Eurotuners wanting to go at it, so far i'm undefeated (not to brag or nothin). I've been to a few car gatherings in the Northern VA scene and met plenty of like minded people who drool over my car. Which of course I eat it up. I've also had my fair share of haters...."I would rather spend $35k in upgrades on a $25k car and smoke you", "what a waste of money", "You bought an old rich white lady car", etc. To each there own, I don't "regert" anything, not even one letter! It's my money, I've busted my *** enough to do what the hell I want with it, plus with the Coronavirus out there and the impending collapse of civilized society, I'm glad I checked this off my bucket list. With that said, likes and dislike time;
Dislikes:
1) The lot car I got, came with the carbon fiber center console....which is completely pointless considering its the ONLY thing that is carbon fiber. If it was the same brushed aluminum (or carbon fiber) as like the door trim, I'd be happier.
2) "Hey Mercedes".....I have to constantly cancel that damn thing every time someone even comes close to saying "Mer..." (I know I can disable it, but when I do need it, I like having it....go figure)
3) Tire crabbing, y'all already know about it, so no need to explain.
4) The brakes, again i'm not used to such a high performance car (mostly motorcycles), I feather the brakes when backing out of my house and they screech so loud I thought someone was honking at me (scared the **** out of me). Apparently, this is due to the "aggressive" metallic brake pads?
5) The 2 issues I'm having with the car right now and reason its at the dealership. #1 -The ECO Start/Stop will completely shut the vehicle off when I try to accelerate, so I'm stuck like an asshat until I manually start the vehicle back up. #2- Within that past few weeks, while driving with the Adaptive cruise control on and after some random amount of time, the "Active Brake Assist" and "Active Lane Keep Assist" drops off and is unavailable for a random period of time.
6) The fake exhaust tips, I love the way they look, but $80k+ should get you real quad exhausts....(cough cough Porsche)

1) The uniqueness of the vehicle is a gigantic positive. Macans/Cayannes are a overpriced and dime a dozen, plus the differences between a base model and a GTS is only known by the badge IMO. Sure I've seen plenty of GLC 300s running around, but with the sound and cosmetic upgrades with the AMG, it sticks out like a sore thumb. I've only seen one other 63 in my area and it was a 2018/2019.
2) The exhaust note, the burbles and gurgles.....my god man! I cannot see myself ever getting tired of hearing her start up (and yes, holding down the left paddle shifter and pressing the Start button does make it rev louder). The only vehicle in this class that I would probably say is "better" or at least on par, is the F-Pace SVR.
3) Surprisingly the MPGs...sure if you've got it in S+ mode all day and are heavy footed, you'll average 12 or 13 mpg. This is my daily and I carpool with the wife and a coworker. So I set it to Individual and set up the lowest engine power setting and I'm seeing anywhere from 19 to 22. Got up to 24 on my trip from VA to NYC. So it's good to know I can get this, but spin the dial over a few clicks and get down to business at a moments notice.
4) As previously stated, the looks! She's a neckbreaker and I always look back every time I get out.
5) MBUX system (with exception of "Hey Mercedes"), it's very intuitive and easy to use. The touchpad is a bit much, but I catch myself using from time to time. The Navigation system is by far the best I've seen in the market and that Augmented overlay is amazing (my wife sucks with directions or interpreting GPS instructions). Every interface is smooth and responsive. Overall, this was the tipping point on picking this vehicle over the SVR/Land Rover Sport/Macan/Stelvio Quad. If it was a 2019 or earlier (no offense to those owners), I wouldn't have even considered it.
Hope you enjoy the read and if you're in the market, do your homework and take your time, especially if you're considering spending this type of money. I'd be more than happy to respond to any questions. Stay safe and healthy.

Update: Three of the fuel injectors are miss firing and need to be replaced. MB states the vehicle needs to be put through more testing to ensure MB gets the data they need and that everything is fixed. Car has been there for a week now and looks like it may still be another week or two.
Update: Sensors for the Brake and Lane Keep assist were dirty, dealership cleaned the sensors, should be g2g.

With the 63s, I hope you would. I would’ve gone with the S if they gave us the SUV. I think the Coupé is trash (no offense), so I’ll work with it. As for the carbon fiber, I just need to do the same and I’d feel better.

May I give some advise on the brake issue. Screeching/noisy brakes is almost exclusively the result of poorly bedded brakes and the complaint largely comes from folks who buy performance cars and then drive them like a normal commuter car, never getting enough heat into the brakes. Performance brakes are designed to deal with heat and stop these cars from high speeds in a hurry. They need to be treated properly and used as designed for noise free and best performance. The screeching largely stems from the pads scraping against the "naked" rotors, meaning the rotor lacks an even layer of pad material. You can see this as a grayish layer on the rotor where the pads touch. It gets worse if you live in a climate where salt and water corrodes the rotors. This layer forms relatively easy on regular cars that don't use brake pads designed to sustain high temperatures, so all it takes is just driving around normally. Performance pads on the other hand need some real heat put into them before pad material transfers to the rotor. You can accomplish this over time with some fairly aggressive braking and getting the brakes nice and hot, or with some deliberate repeated stops from 60 mph to 5 mph (don't come to a full) stop, until you can smell the brakes and then go for a cool down drive w/o using the brakes much and especially not coming to a full stop, otherwise the hot pads imprint on the rotor and you end up with uneven deposits leading to other issues. Once the layer has been created it needs to be maintained by continue to operate the brakes hard periodically and get them hot, otherwise the pads scrape the layer off over time and you are back to square one.

It's really not a "problem" for me. Again I come from driving peasant cars (Ford/Dodge), so I just wasn't aware that it would do that and took me by surprise. Now that I know, it's really not a big deal. Side question, would changing to Carbon Ceramic pads reduce this and the immense amount of brake dust?Originally Posted by superswiss

Just curious, you didn't mention your thoughts on the "ride quality". Care to share? I ask because this is our 3 MB and second AMG. Though it corners better than any previous MB, it is also the harshest ride, even in comfort mode. That is my only complaint, and I can get over it pretty quickly. But with magnetic ride control, you would think a "softer" setting could be programmed.

Yep, basic burnishing the brakes that is required on true performance cars.Originally Posted by superswiss

I usually get a new car every 1.5 years and I try to stay in the 80-120K range and the GLC 63s has the nicest interior out of all the Bimmers, Audi's, ARs, that I have had. The interior in the X5M and in my GLE 63S was nicer but those are a different class.
I actually love the interior in my GLC, simple, clean and looks like it means business with no fluff.
Just to be fair...this is the interior of my other car so maybe I look at things differently...

Well this is my first MB and AMG, so coming from a Ford Fusion, it’s way worse than that....also driving my RAM Powerwagon w/35s, it’s way better than that. But to answer your question....it’s blatantly obvious that you feel just about every speck of dust in the road, but it’s really not “that” bad. The 21” rims don’t help, but I’ve gotten used it. So I can’t say it’s the best, but not the worst. I do agree that they should’ve gotten rid of the “comfort” mode, cuz that’s a joke.Originally Posted by TheOtherDodge

Before I chose this car, I was really dead set on the F-Pace SVR, the interior was nice, but it didn’t blow me away and the infotainment was a joke. I drove a BMW X3 rental and that was pretty nice, but the MPGs on the X3M Comp was a joke. I never got a chance to test drive the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quad, but from the YouTube research I did, it didn’t stir the loins either, plus the quality was sketchy. The GLC wasn’t even on my radar until it popped up on my YouTube recommended page. I saw a review on the 2019 and the infotainment kind of scared me away, but the reviewer said the 2020 was getting a tech refresh, so I checked it out and was AMAZED. I only wished the US got the 63s SUV, but I’m more than happy with this one. So really no other car I saw was on par with exception to maybe the Porsche or Audi. I just couldn’t get over the looks of the Macan.Originally Posted by ParadigmDawg

It is a harsh ride, especially lowered like a lot of us do. It is night and day different than my GLE which is likely the smoothest car I have ever had but I love this car and plan on keeping it awhile.
Side question, so considering my car is in the shop for what could be up to 3 weeks, is there anything I can get for my troubles? I mean I’m making car payments technically on a GLC 300 (loner car) and it’s irking the **** out of me not having my 63. I’ve had her for barely 3 months and didn’t expect it to be in the shop already. Can I at least get a free AMG swag? Lol

Absolutely, I can definitely see myself in this vehicle for years to come. Not sure if I plan on lowering it or really modifying it at all, minus a tuner kit.Originally Posted by ParadigmDawg

The GLC doesn't have magnetic ride control. As far as I know, MB/AMG don't use magnetic ride control in any models. Some of the AMGs have an adaptive steel spring suspension, and others like the GLC have an adaptive air suspension. However, all AMGs are sprung for performance, handling and feedback and not for comfort. They offer enough rest comfort to use them on a daily basis, but if you expect to float on the road in comfort mode and not feel every crack in the road, then this is the wrong car. Regular Mercedes have suspensions that isolate the driver and dull the feedback if you are looking for comfort. I've never driven the GLC, but my 2019 C63S Coupe rides very well in comfort mode, unless I find myself on a road that should have been repaved 40 years ago. Key to a proper ride is using the correct tire pressure. There are several different tire pressures based on the type of tire, number of passengers, and amount of cargo as well as top speed. The tire pressure to use for most of one's driving with 1-2 people in the car and no or little cargo is not the one on the door sticker. Check the fuel door for the correct lower tire pressure for normal driving. Originally Posted by TheOtherDodge

But with magnetic ride control, you would think a "softer" setting could be programmed.
For reference, below is the one from my C63S. Notice that there is over 10 psi difference between the recommended pressure for driving at speeds up to 180 mph with a car fully loaded with people and cargo with 19/20 wheel vs only having up to 2 people and little cargo and speeds up to 155 mph. I can definitely tell you that if I use the highest recommended tire pressure as it's indicated on the door sticker, then the ride quality is absolutely brutal. Tires themselves can also make a difference. I've recently replaced my stock PSS with a set of PS4S and the ride quality has become noticeably better. The PSS tended to crash over most bumps in the road. The PS4S is all-around a much better tire than the PSS. Food for thought.

I usually switch over to the PS4S once my original tires wearout and I have always loved them. For some reason, the P Zeros stuck way better than the PS4S for for my GLC. I can spin them and kick them sideways way easier that the Zeros. Have you noticed this? They are also wearing way slower leading me to believe they are harder than the Zeros.Originally Posted by superswiss

That's surprising to me. I actually went from the P Zero to the PSS and finally the PS4S on my previous Audi RS5. Each step was a significant upgrade. The PS4S is the leader in longitudinal grip at the moment among UHP tires. It consistently has the shortest braking distances compared to its competitors which is all down to the improved grip. On my RS5, the P Zero had noticeable less grip and the car was much easier to slide. Especially in the wet, the P Zero is pretty terrible. In my C63S, being RWD, the improved grip of the PS4S is very noticeable. I can now finally put the power down w/o spinning my tires all the way to 3rd gear, and when cornering I find the car much more confident now and the PS4S is more communicative about its limits. The stock PSS for me lost grip a bit to easy and not as predictable, which was somewhat surprising given that it is a very good tire, but I didn't like it all that much on the C63S as I did on my previous cars. Perhaps I'm just so used to the PS4S by now and the PSS was a downgrade in that regard.Originally Posted by ParadigmDawg

Surprising me too, I had them on my GLE 63s, my X5M and Audi SQ5 and they were great. Originally Posted by superswiss

Thanks. I was gonna include this video, but forgot. It's one of the best on this subject I've found so far. Originally Posted by 18bora
