Sudden loss Power Steering while driving
We have a 2020 GLC 63 (Build date May 2020). My wife was driving the car yesterday in a more Sporty profile (mine) and while actively driving the power steering suddenly gave out and she was unable to turn the steering wheel. Multiple strangers tried and then apparently a strong individual was able to manhandle the wheel and get her off the road. By the time I reached there and turned the car on (off for 15 mins), and switched to a comfort profile, everything went back to normal. We had the car towed to MB dealer and they found no faults and couldn't reproduce the problem. I know there was a power steering harness recall that affected 2019-2020 GLC's but apparently my VIN is not in the recall inclusion. The tech apparently check out the harness and it was fine.
Wondering if anyone has had this happened or know of some sort of fix. I'm glad it didn't happen on the highway. TIA

They drove the car 150 miles at various speeds and different steering settings over 3 days and couldn't find any issues, so they released the vehicle back to me. I know it's only a matter of time before it happens again. I just hope no one gets injured. Fingers crossed

Were they able to verify that it was a power steering loss through a fault code? If so what code did they find? Might have been another module that failed and subsequently caused power steering loss.
I just got my GLC63 back from the dealer. It had thrown a sensor failure error for the collision prevention system due to a dirty sensor, they couldn’t replicate the error but did see it stored as a fault code.

Just experienced this!
Just experienced the power steering malfunction about an hour ago on the highway. Steering got extremely tight. Read your post and checked my car about 30 minutes after. Lamp light is off and issue has corrected. I have roadside on the way already. I will keep you posted on what technicians say once it get checked.
