Current Pricing?

I'm trying to get real world data on what one would consider a "good deal" on a new 2020 or 2021 GLC 63 AMG. I'm aware of truecar and similar sites, but often times they're not accurate.

What % under MSRP are these vehicles going for? If a pricing thread already exists, please delete. Thank you

Check out yourautoadvocate.com. They provide market based pricing and values on new and used vehicles. If you pay for one of their plans, you get "Black Book" pricing, which is what dealers use. Also check their numerous YouTube videos. Very educational. I'm not associated with them but did use them recently to help educate me on negotiations for a new GLC43.

Most discounts on new have been in the 5-8% range but there are some internet negotiators out there that claim 15% on a new build. When I was ordering mine, i would say that 5% is a good deal and 10% is a great deal, depending. and I called about 10-15 dealers across the country that were well known for high volumes and discounts. I got 8% off a very early buildable allocation which i though was more than fair.

I know that many of the sources that quote 'real' price information take location into account but where I live there are only two Mercedes dealers in the state. They see no reason to discount much at all. I got 4% of my new GLC 63 that I ordered in October and was told I got that deal because I was such a good customer. When I see 8 or 15% off, I have to scratch my head.

1. I just bot a cpo for 9% under ask. This may be an orange compared to an apple, but similar concept. I am certain they made a good profit on the ext. warranty which I argued about, but it is a better buy than any after market wty. I perused. A different topic for a different time. They also made $$ on maintenance k and, shockingly, MBFS matched my 2.49 rate at the cheapest CU in town so more $$ for the dealer there. Others say I got a great deal and I say I got a fair deal which was all I wanted. I need them to turn a profit and be there when I need service.

2. I can attest that every dealer has low inventory. I was coming out of a T-reg and decided to test drive a 4runner. I know, heresy. 4 to 6 month wait and they had only 1 in the trim level I wanted. NOT! Think if I wanted that 1 they would have come off sticker? We have all heard the screaming about the chip shortage.

3. I went back to the mothership today and I asked how business was. They said steady, but they can't get inventory.

There may be a way to get a better price, but if you use a broker they negotiate their cut 1st. In sum, factors 2 & 3 mean much tougher to get a bargain than a year ago.

What state are you in and and how far will you travel will have a lot to do with price.

I had to travel 550 miles to get better than 5%. I found that options I wanted and got 12% off in Atlanta.

It took a lot of calls and explaining who was giving what off to get a better deal.

I appreciate all of the replies, extremely helpful. I am trying to stick to a budget of 70k plus taxes, as little miles as possible.

Black or Brilliant Blue exterior. Must have options, 21" amg wheels, night package, carbon fiber exterior & interior. MSRP for those options should be around 83-85k new. For a new vehicle I'd need 15-16% off to get to my set budget of 70k, which I dont think will happen. I'll be looking for very lightly used.

To answer Tom, I'm in California, willing to travel or have the vehicle shipped to me for the right discount.

Question for you. What year is your vehicle and rough mileage? 9% under asking price, but what was asking price below original MSRP? That would be huge help for me, since I'm most likely have to get slightly used at 70k budget.

I put you in SF and did an MBUSA inventory search which brought up 13 vehicles for AMG 63. Tell me if anything looks good. I drive 3 k a year-not a month-and bot a 2017 GLC 300 W4 with 48k miles. In one year I will be at 51k so machts nichts. I rec'd a copy of the sticker and it was 52ish . I would never pay for the lit star, but I have one! Used ask was 33,500ish and we ended up at 34,400 for car and 2 yr. extension on the wty. Since this car is mostly computer, wty. is a must.

My MSRP was just over 90k. I have most options except sunroof, carbon fiber exterior, front emblem light. I paid just under 80k out the door. I can't see you having a hard time getting what you want on a lightly used 2020 for 70k.
FYI, Shipping cost for my Porsche from CA to NH was 1400 enclosed or 800 open with reputable companies. Maybe you'll have better luck shopping in the mid west or on the east coast.

Tom , you have some great ideas. I was toying with bringing a car from VA to Stl and the off hand quote was 1k. A friend made a stray comment he may have a cheaper transport source. Be glad to call him and get details if that issue comes up, BUT do you want to buy a car without driving it if it is not a CPO?

BTW Tom I think you are fortunate to have skipped the sunroof-no cowl drain issues.

Have you seen the transport bidding site. Transport companies provide bids based on your locations and time frames. I've used this for my Tundra to/from Florida.
It's quick and simple. You pick the company from a list of the bid amounts. Almost all transport websites are just brokers.

I'd buy a low mileage, 1-3 year old, car that still has a warranty if it hasn't been to the dealer for multiple visits for the same problem. I'd have it inspected by an independent shop before buying. I've purchased a few 911s and a GT3 and haven't had any issues.

Tom-you are way ahead of me and I am mentally filing these bits of info away for the future. Glad you are on the forum. Car buying has changed somewhat since the last time I was in the market, but some things remain the same; caveat emptor.

Thanks to all for the info. I've offered $70k OTD on a few pre-owned cars with stickers in the high $80s -- can anyone comment on if I'm being unreasonable or if I should hold out? I'm less worried about the absolute price and more just want to get a decent deal. These dealers seem to only be discounting $15k or so from MSRP at the very most on used '20s, and maybe that's the market, but it seems high to me, especially if some of you are getting ~$10k on brand new 2021s with the exact options you want (and the car obviously being, well, new).

I purchased my slightly used 2020 GLC63 with $83k MSRP in January 2021 for $65k out the door. It was originally purchased late April 2020 and had 5800 miles on it in Jan. No accidents.

Amazing-so T3F should offer less depending upon options and mileage. I always wonder if I paid too much, but I had only 4 more days of insurance rental and I wanted it done.

Price and amount of discount is TOTALLY dependent on your local market, which is constantly changing. I recently made a deal for an ordered GLC43 with a little over 5% off in my market. I wanted some very specific options, which makes it more difficult to negotiate. Also, the MSRP of the vehicle makes a difference....the higher the price the more room for negotiations (from a percentage perspective) whereas a base model doesn't have a lot of wiggle room. If you are willing to accept a more vanilla version of the vehicle, you'll likely get a better deal (basic supply and demand). I highly recommend yourautoadvocate.com and paying the minimal fee to gain access to an abundance of market based info. Also they have a crap-ton of youtube videos, of which most are worth the time.

Update: I offered $70k OTD on one with a high-$80k sticker and 10k miles and the dealer was so unhappy that they refused to even counter, claiming they already priced it very aggressively (~$12k off sticker OTD). It seems that there are so few of these out there that the dealers are trying to push for as much as they can -- even 2018s and 2019s are asking ridiculous prices, and some of the used 2020s are asking about MSRP which is insane. I'll keep an eye out, but it seems to me that this just isn't a buyer's market at the moment. Perhaps things will change in a few months once people are spending money on things like travel, eating out, etc. again, but we'll see.

Final update: I got ~$19k off OTD on a 2020 with around 10k miles and a $91k sticker -- wired the money this morning, but probably won't see the car for a week or so since I'm having it shipped. Was it a great deal? I'm not sure -- in a normal market, I'd say no, but given how hot the market is right now, it seemed relatively fair to me, or at least fair enough for me to stop fussing over a few thousand and pull the trigger. It also didn't hurt that this specific car was almost exactly what I would've ordered from the factory -- it literally was missing ventilated front and heated rear seats, had an Alcantara steering wheel instead of carbon fiber, and I could've done without the running boards, but otherwise, everything was spot-on and I doubt I would've found an equivalent car at a price as good or better even if I waited for months (I already have, and I'd yet to find more than a handful that I'd even consider spec-wise, none of which were offered for decent prices). Anyways, hope this helps those of you that are still on the hunt, and thanks again to those that have helped me out in my search.

Just wish I could drive it..........can't wait to see the pix. I think you made the best decision since it's that close to the wish list. Now will you license it in Montana? That's all the rage here.

Thanks! Also can't wait to drive it -- I've only driven one once and for about 10 minutes on a frigid day with a salesperson in the car, so I didn't get to have any fun or really see what this car's about.

Ha, no, sales tax is pretty low in my state, and regardless, I'm not at all a fan of any sort of arrangement like that.

Will post pics once the car comes in and I get it all cleaned up!

I don't do the Montana thing either, but with 10% sales tax + annual car tax I can understand why we have a bevy of Ferraris and Lamborghinis from Big Sky country!
Amazing how 10 mins. can do the trick. I was not prepared to love a C class 4 banger, but that turbo...........Always had E's or M's with 6es.
Curious-how does it compare to the Audi? I have had a smile on my face since 3/15. You had a prior Benz? Mine has Comand, not MBUX. I challenge myself to learn something new every day to tap all of the capabilities. One of the 1st things I did was change comfort to sport steering. One problem-Nav and I do not see eye to eye and it has started asking Sprechen Sie Deutsch?

This is my first MB! I'll have to get back to you with a more detailed comparison once I have the new car, but from the few minutes I spent with the GLC63, I can say that the MB's interior is a cut above the S5's (which was already very good), as is the infotainment. The GLC is definitely a heavier vehicle, but not in a bad way - - I actually like the added solidity the weight seems to give it. I can't comment on the handling, though neither car is exceptional in that area; the Audi has slow and lifeless steering and understeers at the limit (that I literally never approach, so it's irrelevant), and the GLC is, well, an SUV, no matter how non-SUV-like it may act. I could care less, though -- I'm buying this to have a fun daily driver, not a race car. The Audi is quick (though it's so smooth that it doesn't feel as quick as it is) and sounds decent when you get on it, but lacks any real character. Aside from a choppier ride than I'd like, that's my only real complaint about the Audi; it's been a fantastic car and does everything very well with surprisingly few compromises. In a few years when I'm ready to switch it up again, I'll definitely consider another Audi, though it does seem that MB is quite a bit ahead in terms of driving dynamics at the moment and is creating a widening gap in interior luxury as well, so we'll see.

What part of the country is the car in? Surprised you didn't pick it up and enjoy the driving.
